About 5 months ago today, I first considered WLS when I was browsing through my new health insurance's website. I made an appointment with a Bariatric surgeon the second day of my active health insurance on 11/2/13, and now, about 3 and 1/2 months later, I am about to get sleeved! I can't believe time has gone by this fast. I am so excited. Problem is, no one else, besides my fiance, is excited for me. Most of my old school hispanic family is judgemental and discouraging. Anyone I have told just tried to either talk me out of it by giving me unsolicited diet advice (like I have never been on a diet), or just looked at me like I was nuts to have this surgery. They just don't understand! Today is the first day that I truly am having butterflies in my stomach. This surgery will be on my 37th birthday, and I want to start my new life and the day I took my first breath of my first life. I am still learning about this whole process. Any tips from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Also, should I avoid sugary foods not for the rest of my life?
