How to Choose a Gastric Sleeve Insurance ?

Hi to all
It is hard to choose a insurance company for Gastric sleeve like Many of the insurance company covers the cost of it and is there any point that a person insurance do not covers it.
And How much does it covers in a bill
The total amount , surgeon fees or some things related to surgery bill.

I think it depends on where you live. I live in Massachusetts and I have Harvard Pilgrim HMO. I had a $250 hospital payment and $35 copayments for the doctor visits. I did not have an administrative fee.

It really just depends on the plan. Each insurance company is different in what they pay. Mine paid 80%, but there is a max out of pocket. I paid about $3,000, and my insurance paid about $36,000. There are people that travel to Mexico to have it done and pay about $5,000 total. There are some insurance companies that do not cover bariatric surgery unless there are requirements that are met.

You need to call insurance. Not everyone with the same health care plan in the same state has the same coverage because companies can opt in/out of any or all of it.

I am proof of what ximma said. My employer opted out of covering any form of bariatric surgery. So I did 3 months of research and went to Tijuana for my VSG. I had my surgery January 12, 2013. On the date of my surgery I was wearing a 30 pants and 4-5Xl top. I am down 123 lbs. I now wear a medium top and size 12 pants. Just remember the sleeve is a tool that if used properly will help you lose weight.

If you are planning on going to Tijuana for your surgery make sure you do your research. Find a surgeon that you feel will be the right one for you. Just because they advertise everywhere doesn't always mean they are the best!!
