    Default Celebrating - Advice

I have been trying to think of something to do that is significant to celebrate reaching my 6 month anniversary goals. This would also serve as motivation to keep up the focus. I would like it to be an experience rather than something material. I would like the experience to be significant in that it represents something that I couldn't or wouldn't have done when I was heavier. I'm an avid traveler and want to try to do something I have never done before. Any ideas?

this isnt travel (although yes go do that!); but one lady posted gorgeous pinup shots she had taken when she hit one of her goals. they were really inspirational. anything like skydiving/horse back riding/zip lining or other things weight might have prevented you from doing before might be fun.

This isn't a suggestion for you, but a comment on one of my goals. I can't wait to go back to Rio Secreto in the Mayan. My hubby and I went when I was at my top weight of over 340 and it was mortifying (you have to wear a wet suit). My ultimate dream when I reach my goal is to go back to enjoy it with out feeling so ashamed of myself because it is absolutely breathtaking.

I think having photos done is a fabulous idea. Then six months from now you can do the same. It will be wonderful to look back on your journey.

I also think maybe a professional make over, new make up, hairstyle, clothing etc would also be great fun too.

I went to a big amusement park and rode all the rides!! Some of them 2 or 3 times! There was nothing that I couldn't fit which had significant meaning because I explicitly remember at 15 years old, with all of my friends, being told that I had to get off a ride because my hips couldn't fit the seat... I was mortified and embarrassed beyond belief! As much as I loved roller coasters I never attempted to get on another one again because I was too scared that I wouldn't fit.

I had a wonderful time!!! I was so proud!! I am also an avid traveler and remember flying after losing a significant amount of weight.. I actually took a picture of the seatbelt across my lap because I couldn't believe that I no longer needed an extender.. Hell, I had about 5-6 inches to spare once I tightened it up! What a great feeling!!!! I will be 2 years out in April and almost 8 months pregnant expecting my first child. I will definitely be traveling again when the baby gets here... not at first but I surely see a zip line in Costa Rica in my future!!!!

Congratulations on your success!!! It's a great feeling!!!!

One thing I would love to do is go on the National Geographic boat tour of the Sea of Cortez in Baja Mexico. It includes kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking etc. The only problem is that it is booked through to next year. I have never been on a cruise and have had generally negative perceptions about them, but I'm starting to think about an Eastern Caribbean cruise. The ship has a rock climbing wall and a water park on it. There are several stops and each has very fun activities like sailing and snorkeling. There is even a stop at the Atlantis resort which would be fun to go down that huge slide. My husband and I don't drink and I obviously don't eat much, so I'm not sure if a cruise would be a waste of money. Has anyone every been on a cruise? Any recos?

I'm going to wait on clothes shopping until I am at my final goal weight. I have clothes of all sizes that allows me to shop my closet for quite a while. I cut my hair last month, so that's out. I love the idea of a ski vacation, but my husband (who was on the US ski team when he was younger) just had a knee replacement.

How about a long weekend at the Allison Inn and Spa in Newberg, Oregon? It is in the middle of Wine Country (I don't drink either, but it is beautiful). I spent the night at the Allison Inn a year ago and it is fabulous. Treat yourself and your husband so several of their fabulous spa offerings.

I wasn't sure how far you wanted to go or how much you want to spend so this is something that isn't so far that you can't drive if you want.

Where ever you go, enjoy yourself and celebrate.

Get a Brazilian Wax or something superficial that you have always wanted to try. Maybe a laser fat melt or something.
