Anyway KarenJean; regarding recourse for medical malpractice - with all of this doctors reported complications he probably never had to pay a peso since Mexico does not pay patients for negligence. They are more likely to jail a Dr.

I am so sorry you had such a bad experience!! I had surgery by Almanza in 2012. I still eat such small amounts and am down 80lbs. I'm so glad I did it. My experience was a positive one.

I've had great results with Dr. Alamanza....Down over 160lbs from almost 2 years ago. My wife will be going there early next year

Every WLS public forum is run by someone with a financial interest in the industry.

Although I have ZERO financial interest in the industry, I get much benefit from this site. I meet new friends here, many of whom are very substantial people who share a lot that helps me. I get to pour out my little heart as much as I want, which helps me sort what I think / how I feel about this journey I'm on.

Thus far, this site seems to be moderated with a very light hand.

That is the same person and this person has posted on other sites and she complained of not getting the services she wanted and them not giving her money back. The weight loss agents responded to her and told her that Dr. Almanza did what he should have done based on the situation and her having too much scar tissue. They told her that they are going to give her the money back minus what they did do which was remove her rotten lapband.

I've had the Gastric Sleeve from Dr. Alamanza and everything was great and everything is great now. What a change it has made in my life. I was over 360lbs and now I'm close to 200lbs. I had the surgery on tax day, April 15th, 2013 almost 2 years ago. It's given me 10 years back on my life. I thought life was just a settlement at the age of 50 two years ago, but life is great at 52. Don't think twice, my wife is going to have it done soon too....

I am 2.5 weeks post op from Dr Almanza. Everything went great. I Am sorry to hear your surgery did not go as expected. They did have an area that talked about surgery may not happen because of health issue or something that causes it to not be safe. Seems you would have bed. Told #1 why they had to convert to open #2 why the could not complete sleeve if they could not. Sharing those would be eneficial to all reading. Being unhappy is understandable but I'm sure there is a reason. Infections Lso does not mean it's the surgeons fault. It happens. Not to often though. I am a surgical nurse in an outpatient surgery center. I would go back to add Almanza. His behavior really not much different than surgeons in USA

Wow....I just posted another journal from another doctor in Tijuana....your experience sounds really horrible. I am so sorry you are going through that...it's hard to believe they would take your money and do nothing but give you pain and problems. Thank you for sharing!
