Default This is for the Ladies

So prior to surgery my cycle was pretty regular and it should have started two to three days ago. Has anyone else found that postop their cycle did not start when they expected?

I turned 50 two weeks after surgery. Prior to surgery I was having periods only every other month or so and had been having all the peri menopausal symptoms for several years. Then 2 weeks after surgery I had my cycle and now nothing since then and that was 4 months ago.

losing weight can mess up your cycle. If continues more than 3-4 month i would go see you gynecologist... just to make sure there isnt an underlying problem

I began bleeding insanely and irregularly while on my preop liquid diet. It was really odd. I was bleeding like a stuck pig when I went in for my surgery and it continued the whole time I was in the hospital and didn't stop until it had been a week.

Now, I'm back to not bleeding at all, but that's normal for me. I have the Mirena IUD. I am relieved that I am no longer bleeding. I love that about Mirena.

Mine is completely unpredictable. I got the first one a few days after surgery, then it was like 2 months and it was one of the heaviest ever. Then 5 weeks later I had another one and it was normal. I don't think there's any particular answer for everyone, just like everything else lol

Pre-sleeve, I was irregular. Post-sleeve, I am very regular but super-heavy for the first 36 hours (I have to set an alarm for every 1.5-2 hour -- oh joy, not).

Surgery, any surgery, can mess with your cycle. Couple that with the body stress of rapid weight loss combined with the sudden release of stored estrogen in your fat cells, and cycles can go haywire.

Oh my! Sorry you had that experience, but glad that it has improved for you. I was so happy that my cycle was regular and not on when I went into surgery.

I have noticed the opposite. Pre-op I had a period 2 or 3 times per year (PCOS). I got my period 2 days after surgery and have had 2 more since exactly 27 days apart. Since I don't plan on having kids this was one benefit I was hoping to not be blessed with.
