    Default Getting nervous

Hi everyone, anyone getting their surgery next week? Would be nice to have a buddy or two around the same stage, I just bought chewable vitamins and flavorless protein to put in soups, for the non solid stages. I have a lap band from about 7 years ago that never worked for me, lost maybe 15 lbs and gained more back. My biggest concerns are complications and hair loss. I'm also concerned about how much I will be able to eat the rest of my life. How much can you eat 3/4 cup? 1 cup? 1/2 cup? Of food. I'm hoping I will eventually be able to sit with people and have meal all be it a smaller one. I envision ordering off the appetizer menu the rest of my life, any insights for me. Surgery is in 5 days.

Hey. My surgery is February 15. I am also worried about hair loss. I have blonde hair that is not thin but in no way is it thick. Two years ago I lost 45 pounds in three months taking diet pills and eating low carb. My hair started falling out in handfuls. I was afraid to even wash my hair. My doctor said it was due to my dramatic weight loss. The one good thing I can say is that it did stop after about two months and it wasn't really noticeable to other people, only me. I am going to start taking biotin, niacin, and folic acid because I heard this will help some...please stay in touch! Good luck to you.

Good luck Taratoo and Georgiagirl, hopefully I have some positive things to post before you go in. I'm already skeptical, I am on my pre op diet and I have stalled, lol. I have dieted so much I think my body metabolism goes down the second it gets less calories. Been on pre op diet for 4 or five days and I have lost 3 lbs.

Lolo, what can you have on your pre op diet. Mine is all liquids and 4 ounces of meat if I need it. I can also have sugar free pudding, jello, Popsicles, and yogurt. Not a fan of yogurt at all! I feel like I am going crazy. Who knew this diet would be so hard. I woke up this morning and dreaded going downstairs. The thought of liquids all day just sounded so depressing. I know this is important for my surgery to be successful. I'm hoping it will get easier as the days go by.

I also liquid protein diet I wasn't given the option to have 4 ounces of protein or meet. I am basically eating low-fat. I can't tolerate the sugar-free Jell-O with the aspartame so I have had a couple of jellos days ago with sugar in it. I slipped a bit today because I was at a Super Bowl party and I had some tortilla chips and homemade salsa which was all very low fat so I'm hoping I'll be okay but I was just starving. I have pretty much been drinking fat-free chicken stock or broth and protein shakes. My Bmi is a 38

I've been doing it for 10 days, what's your BMI if you don't mind me asking? And r u ready for this.... I have list 2 lbs. I'm wondering if it's the salt content in the chicken broth I'm using. It's the same ole story for me, others lose but not so much me. I am not going to have any soup from here on out and see if that is what it is. I chew a lot of gum, u could try that, I find in not that hungry when I'm on hight protein hopefully u will find the same

My BMI is 34. I weigh 220 but I am almost 5'8 . I have gained 7 pounds around Christmas..ugh! I thought I was ready for this but as time gets closer I keep wondering what the heck am I doing? I have researched this for seven months and felt so confident about my decision. I wonder if everyone feels this way the closer they get to surgery. I try and keep reminding myself why I am doing this ...I have lost and gained the same 50 pounds over and over again. I want to get to a normal weight and stay there longer than 6 months...I'm hoping.......

Hey Everyone, and Hey georgiagirl....Im a Georgia Girl as well
I had my sleeve on 12/4, and once you get used to everything, and start learning the "new belly" life is good!!! I am not going to sugar coat anything the first couple of weeks are definitely a "learning experience"....Would I change what I did? Not in this lifetime There are days where I can eat more, and then there are days when I am more restricted...Don't ask me why? I don't have a clue You will slowly learn that once you have eaten..all is well, and you are not doing without
the hair loss thing...Well that is the scariest for me....I was not blessed to be skinny, and long legged....But I was definitely blessed with long beautiful blonde hair!!! I cried for the longest time when the stylist cut off to much I get my hair trimmed regularly but this woman didn't take off 4 inches she took off 7!!!!! I think I had PTSD for a bit....

I take my vitamins everyday, and also take extra Biotin as well

Thanks qh, it's good to hear others experiences. I wasn't born long legged and thin either but my hair was, if I lose too much hair I will be bald. I have bought biotin and the sales guy recommended omega oils but not sure if he was just trying to make another sale. Georgiagirl, I think it's normal to get nervous. I am nervous and I just keep focusing on the day after it's all done and I'm off walking around not in too much pain hopefully. I was wavering a couple weeks ago but then I caught a reflection of myself in a window and it just hit me there is no way I can do this without the surgery, I am probably close to 100 pounds overweight and I miss my face. I look at lots of overweight people and yet their faces are not as overweight as mine I have a really puffy face so I keep concentrating on seeing my real face to calm my nerves
