What are your thoughts on this product? I've had mix reviews and am wondering at what stage to use the unflavored powder.
I have tried both the chocolate flavors and the chicken soup. I thought they were very good. I've used the chocolate as a stand-alone smoothie and as a mix in.
I used the Unjury protein powder when I first had my gastric band surgery 5 years ago (waiting for op date for a revision). I honestly couldn't tell any major difference in the taste of the vanilla and chocolate in comparison to the much less expensive powders that were available from other companies. I bought one tub of the unflavored protein, thinking that I would be able to "hide" it in other liquids. In my opinion, it was the worst tasting, more HORRIBLE stuff I had ever put in my mouth! Other people may like it, but I certainly didn't. Just remember that unflavored just means that they didn't add any additional flavoring to it (like chocolate flavor, etc). It does NOT mean that it is flavor-less!
I totally relied on Unjury products after my surgery. The chicken broth was great...made me feel like I was having chicken noodle soup without the noodles. The chocolate was tasty. I mixed it with almond milk. I used the unflavored in my soups and honestly did not really taste it. These products helped me achieve my protein goals from the minute I came home from the hospital. No complaints here.
Yes, it worked in the clear liquid phase. It is basically broth with protein. I forgot to mention that the cheese sauce gagged me. I so was looking forward to it, but it was a no go for me. I'll have to try it again in a few weeks.
