    Default "stitches"removed from Mexico Dr's

I haven't decided on which Dr in Mexico to contact yet, but I have a question on getting stitches removed after going--being that my own Dr is not "onboard" with the whole "going out of the country to have surgery"-then who will remove the stitches?? Also, did I read somewhere one of the mx drs uses the skin bonding adhesive stuff?? I'm thinking about staying around the San Diego area for a few days to visit my son in the military-wonder if I could catch a ride back to mx for removal?? Any advice would be great! Thanks

I didn't have any external stitches. It was all "glue" that came off on its own when it was ready. Far superior to stitches.

just glue and it is wonderful, let it come off it self don't peel it away. I was wondering about that also that the doc was going to glue me back together...lol

Also the glue does wonders for leaving less of a scar. I am only a month out and it is already obvious to me.

Like the others, I was glued and found it far superior to stitches or staples, both of which I've had in the past. I also agree with teddtlove that it helps the scarring. I only have one bad one where the surgeon took the stomach out. He usually does a beautiful job going almost through the navel, but because my pannis is so huge he had to make a separate hole. Most of my steri strips held until my week 1 appointment. If you can find a surgeon you're happy with who glues, I would seriously consider that.

I had stitches but my Dr back home removed them. SHE had no problems with my surgery- and she's a naturalpathic Dr. In fact my bestie is her office manger and that's who went to MX with me! Time for a new Dr if you have one not on board.... Sorry I have no idea about them removing stitches in Mexico. Any RN friends? Mine had some tissue grown around, and stuture area was a little inflamed (not incisions) so they definitely needed some level of expertise- also Dr used a numbing cream so I was very glad to have her... Hoping for you to have some good care stateside.

Hello and Welcome to the forum. I had my surgery performed by Dr. Sergio Quinones in Tijuana Mexico. Dr. Quinones uses dissolvable sutures. My incision were healed within 14 days post-op. I highly recommend Dr. Quinones to anyone that is considering weight loss surgery in Tijuana. Feel free to private message me here or email me stacyeckel@gmail.com and I'll be more than happy to share my experience with Dr. Quinones.

    Good luck,
    Stacy

Ask the doctor to use dissolvable stitches. I was in Mexico 10 days so my doctor pulled out my drains and anything else I needed done before I went home.

Going to a Dr in Mexico is one great option, but you may have other self pay options closer to home. Having my aftercare provided by the same surgeon who sleeved me was important to me and one of the reasons I chose Dr Borland. He is in New Iberia and I noticed you're from La too. Mexico may work out better for you, but thought I would share a different option. Wishing you all the best!

You could go to an urgent care to get your stitches removed, or remove them yourself. I had staples and while I had a local dr. my first appointment with him post surgery wasn't until 16 days after surgery. After 10 days I had enough with the staples so I googled how to remove them, watched a video on youtube, then removed them myself. No issues and my surgeon was impressed and amused that I had taken them out myself (although his nurse was kind of appalled).
