I am on day 2!! This is so hard!!! How did you all get thru it?? Any advice to possibly make the next 12 days easier???
are you on total liquids? My bmi was lower so I only have to do a 3 day liquid diet, but for 7 days before surgery I am on liquids and mushy foods, like farina, protein drinks, mashed veg and fruits. no real carbs like pasta. I have done pretty good just a little weak. and tire. I have farina for breakfast a pice of fruit for mid morn. then for lunch I made a homemade turkey soup with just carrots, onions, celery and spices no salt. with some turkey in it. with a diet snapple, then mid day another protein shake, and then a piece of fish for dinner with veggies. its not to bad, I just keep thinking about after surgery. just do the best you can, did the dr. ive you a list?
You ain't seen nothing yet! Did that scare ya? You are just in your second day. I am 7 days past surgery. The first 3 days are rough. But by the 3rd day you will notice you are getting better. Just drink what you can right now. Your stomach is still swollen so you can't drink much. It wasn't until the 5th day could I get close to 64 oz. Try sipping 1 oz every 15 minutes. Your stomach muscles will be VERY sore. If you are very still they do not hurt but as soon as you move ouch! I ended up sleeping a couple nights in my recliner. It was easier to get up from a chair than a bed. Take your pain medicine before you are in pain. I took mine every 4 hours. By the 3rd day I was off of them. You'll do fine. Enjoy your new life one day at a time.

I know exactly how you feel. I am on day 8 of my pre-op diet and the only way that I have been able to stay on this journey is to rest periodically throughtout the day (I work from home). The hot weather is draining a lot of my energy and I have learned that I have to take it easy. If it becomes to much for you please contact your surgeon and they may allow you to eat some protein in order to stop the hunger. All I have to say is, "God Bless us all"
Hey Slandon.... It's Rough. I'm on day 5 pre-op. I'm doing protein shakes, gatorade G2 low calorie, water, jello. I've even mixed my protein powder and jello mix and made my own. I'm trying to keep my eye on the prize but geez its sooo hard!!
vodka and more vodka...just drink and pass out..the days over! Sorry, just a joke....but yes, it is soooo hard. If I could do this on a liquid diet I wouldn't have to have surgery...hello!!!! I have a week to do this too. I think the protien shakes are pretty good, especially choc.....also I got a few protien shots from GNC, mix a little of OJ with the fruit punch protien shot and really it's not bad....put a shot of vodka in there and it's all good....Good luck! We all have to have a little bit of humor, or we are going to stress out!!! Take Care and good luck!
Well I don't know how people go on a liquid diet for more than one day I'm on day two I feel so weak and hungry it's not even funny. This experience really make me think about the less fortunate who cannot afford to eat. If I wasn't schedule for thursday I would have cheated hunger is no fun.
oh my goodness.! i too am on my 2nd day of liquid diet and ac2ally have been nibbling here and there because i just could not take d hunger. iv been starving all day! people @ work has ac2ally been asking me if i feel ill or is there something on my mind. lol i dont know how i'm gonna be able to make it the next 2 more weeks. HEEELLLPPP..!!!
My doctor uses Protein drink "Weight & Inches". I have been using it for 4 weeks. It is thicker. 4 x 16 oz drinks a day. I'm not hungry but I do miss food.
Good luck hope you find something to help.

I'm on day three. Today has been better than the last two. I still do feel hungary and have a headache, but I just keep thinking of myself laying on the front of my boat next summer looking GOOD! My day two was terrible. I actually left work early and went home to bed. I had 0 energy and wondered how I was ever going to make it two weeks. Like I said today has been better, but not great. Eye on the prize, Eye on the prize!!!
I chose to use Medifast for 6 weeks prior to surgery. I did their 5 in 1 plan...5 Medifast Meals (shake, soup, powder mixed with water) then chicken or fish and a vegatable or salad for dinner. After that I did 5 days clear liquids for surgery, I don't think I would have made it through the 5 days clear liquids without easing in with Medifast. I'm 5 days out from surgery now and it's no problem staying on the clear liquids now although I am starting to add Medifast back in today.
It's hard, do your best and if you need a little something to get your by make sure it's protein not fat or carbs.
I had to do the 2 week liquid pre op diet. You can do it. The first week is the hardest. Follow what the doctor, You don't want to have a complications because of the liver not being small enough for them to work around. You can do. Make the #1 goal and not cheat during the liquid diet. I was so happy with myself for not cheating. YOU CAN DO IT!
