I have been travelling and in some upheaval since leaving my home on short notice in September. And guess what? My weight hasn't changed at all. I have been hovering around 90kg (198lb) for about 3 months now. It's not surprising. I've been eating well but often eating nuts and cheese for my protein. I've been eating the occasional simple carbs, too. So I know what to do to get the weight loss moving again.
The nice surprise is that while my weight hasn't changed, my waist has been getting smaller. Today it is 91 cm (36 inches). My waist at the time of my surgery almost a year ago was 156cm (61 inches). Quite a difference, huh? I can now buy off the rack clothing easily.
My partner and I are now living in Tonga, where fresh fish, pineapples and other tropical fruit and veg (all grown organically by the local people) are plentiful. I'm sure I will do well here. I am starting yoga today and there will be many opportunities for swimming and snorkelling. We will be here for about 5 months, so it is a chance to settle and make a routine; have some control over my diet.
We have been making ourselves drinks of fruits chunks (or cores and peels) -- apples, pineapple, strawberries, limes -- in a jug of filtered water in the fridge. It's cheap, nourishing and tastes delicious.
Anyway, that's my tropical dream for my northern friends in the ice and snow and just a reminder that the scale is not everything.
Warm wishes,
Nel
