    Default binge eating!

I haven't been on this site for quite awhile. I have spent 2013 binge eating. Weight went up to 147 from 117. The things that stopped me were a very good md and an 8 week workshop called "Am I hungry". Basically you identify IF you are hungry and if you are NOT hungery than what do you need: sleep, companionship. Something to do, etc. NO food is off limits but it emphasizes healthy choices. They have a workbook for WLS and one for binge eating. Since I know the food is not "bad" and I can have it anytime I want, it has taken the bingeing away. Losing wt is easy after surgery -- It's keeping it off that's hard.

Thanks for the update. It's not surprising that it can become more difficult if you haven't fixed your mind as well as your tummy. It's what scares me most. I know I still have to work on getting mind on the same page as my stomach. It's certainly not easy. I'm glad you were able to get it under control.

I can relate to the maintenance thing. I find that now, almost 2 1/2 years later, that I'm not as "diligent" about what I'm eating often enough. I think the only thing that saves me is lots of "self-talk", lots of support (local sleeve sisters, and the fact that I'm a scale addict...lol... If I get on the scale, and see it's gone up even 2 lbs.; I tend to panic and go back to basics. This being said, I can find how easy it is to become "re-addicted" to foods, or eating patterns that aren't very healthy. I applaud your intervention, and wish you continued success!

I know personally in the past after losing 80 lbs on 3 occasions only to regain more I found myself avoiding the scale like the plague when I knew I had been making really bad choices. If I ignore it -it isn't real right? I was so mad at myself to have worked so hard for nothing. I too weigh regularly especially if I have splurged a bit. Fortunately I have never had a real stall-gained a couple of pounds from Christmas- I was amazed at how many cookies I could eat!
Eased up on myself for about 2 weeks and right back on track. I pray I will be able to hold strong when I reach goal to make sure I never gain more than a pound or two without working HARD to get it off right away
