Question Early Post Op Daily Routine

Today I am x1 week post op! I am on clear & full liquids until I follow up with my surgeon and nutritionist on Dec. 14th. I am curious for those who remember, or are in my boat.. what is your daily intake look like ?
I am currently taking in a the WHEY Protein +26g per scoop with 6-8 oz of milk x2 daily or x1 daily along side with 1 EAS Lite & a few teaspoons of chobani yogurt. ALong with pushing water.
The protein and getting enough water has been my challenges. So i am just curious as to what other early post ops have done.
Im am also really good about getting in increments of walking in during the day to = 30 min of moving.

ps- im now writing this early in the morning due to awaken by itchy stomach ! ug! and lots of gas. this is a first, i understand the itchy stomach is from the incisions healing -- and the gas im not so sure but i feel full and gassy... so im walking around and sitting up for a bit.

    Thanks in advance your input

In all honesty it sounds like you are doing really good with everything that first couple of weeks are a challenge with the itching and also with gas, it all sounds pretty normal. My second week I could barely do any protein drinks at all and lived on water and SF Ice Pops.

Thank you buddy. I'm trying my hardest without pushing or being forceful. I was waking up each day and feeling better a little eachday. Today I feel "ehhh" so I'm going to listen to my body and lay down rest drinks fluids and try not to worry too much. Buddy how long out from your surgery until you felt good. Like able to function in your daily routine feel good. I'm suppose to go back to work dec 15th and I'm kinda nervous.

I had my surgery on Dec 1st, and there is no way I'm able to get down as much protein as you. GOOD FOR YOU!
I'm getting so sick of the taste of protein shakes. I think I need help getting through this stage. My follow-up appointment with my surgeon is Dec 13th. I'm hoping he will let me go on pureed foods then. This is hard, so I think you are doing great!

Thanks Shirley and congrats on your surgery! Yea I think I need to not be so hard on myself. I know it varies with surgeons but I'm also hoping to hear I can do soft foods soon because I am also sick of the shakes!

I had a really hard time with the protein drinks in the beginning. I also lived on water, crystal light and some decaf hot tea (which made my tummy feel better) I still managed to move every day, walking, shopping, etc and went back to work in 9 days. I also was scared, but did fine. I was put on soft foods early because I had diarehea and started w/Greek yogurt, which I loved and still do! Great source of protein. I can now manage to drink some shakes, but most of my protein comes from the foods I choose. It really does sound like you're doing well and just be patient; which is hard. It gets so much better and you'll love the results. Breathe deeply, take some Gas X for the gassy feelings and move around. Keep up the good work!!

Jerzeygirl thank you! So I have a question.. I'm curious now that your getting your protein from foods do you find it hard to get all the required protein due to having such small portions?

I do not find it hard to get all the protein required - I eat mostly meats or dairy that has high protein at each meal. And this is about all I eat. I barely have room for anything else- fruits or veggies ?? No - I dont eat them often- no room in my tummy. Bread, pasta, rice, no room for them after getting in a few oz of protein. - I had the sleeve Oct 25th. Just 6 weeks ago. Wow. I have lost about 25 lbs since surgery and quite a few inches. Inches are going away even when pounds stall....nice.

I could have gone back to work on the second week after my surgery, Put it to you like this I felt so good 3 weeks out I did enough stuff around the house like yard work and cleaning the pool and all that to dehydrate myself lol. Be carefull with that, plenty of liquids. Of course when I had my surgery it was in the middle of summer and heat indicies of 110. Yikes!!!!!!!!!
