It's been 4 days since I was sleeved and I am feeling so lucky. Surgery went great and I spent two nights in the hospital. Once cleared for cleared liquids on day 1 I was able to sip water, juice, and broth at around 2-3 oz per hour. Next morning I was advanced to full liquids and ate 2oz yogurt and drank 1 oz of apple juice for breakfast. Never felt even a tinge of nausea. Once home I was able to up my liquids to 4oz per hour and can eat 4oz per meal.
I have discovered I am a bit lactose intolerant so that has thrown a wrench in my diet; no cream soups and no pudding. I switched to almond milk for my shakes and found some almond milk pudding packs at whole foods. They are not sugar or fat free so I will need to limit them to treats only. Someone on the nutrition board suggested blending split pea and ham soup so I had that for lunch, so yummy and filling. I am not a huge fan of protein powder in broth so I got some isopure drinks. I sip protein during the day so I am not as stressed if I don't get a ton during a meal of broth soup. So far I am getting around 35oz of water and 45 grams of protein, I think that's pretty good for 4 days out. I need to incorporate some snacks which will help with the protein.
The pain has been bearable. I have been taking pain meds every 8-10 hours and they make a huge difference. I am sleeping well and even ventured out shopping with my husband today. My energy is good but I do take a short nap mid-afternoon.
I am not sure if I feel hunger or gas. I feel a deep rumbling in my tummy and it definitely feels empty around meal time but it's different than before. Watching food on tv is not as bad as I expected.
Overall I am feeling so lucky to have no issues or pain with eating or drinking. I am feeling so great I am almost afraid something terrible is to come, lol.
Keep on keepin on, everyone.
