Default Day 4 updates - Feel awesome

It's been 4 days since I was sleeved and I am feeling so lucky. Surgery went great and I spent two nights in the hospital. Once cleared for cleared liquids on day 1 I was able to sip water, juice, and broth at around 2-3 oz per hour. Next morning I was advanced to full liquids and ate 2oz yogurt and drank 1 oz of apple juice for breakfast. Never felt even a tinge of nausea. Once home I was able to up my liquids to 4oz per hour and can eat 4oz per meal.

I have discovered I am a bit lactose intolerant so that has thrown a wrench in my diet; no cream soups and no pudding. I switched to almond milk for my shakes and found some almond milk pudding packs at whole foods. They are not sugar or fat free so I will need to limit them to treats only. Someone on the nutrition board suggested blending split pea and ham soup so I had that for lunch, so yummy and filling. I am not a huge fan of protein powder in broth so I got some isopure drinks. I sip protein during the day so I am not as stressed if I don't get a ton during a meal of broth soup. So far I am getting around 35oz of water and 45 grams of protein, I think that's pretty good for 4 days out. I need to incorporate some snacks which will help with the protein.

The pain has been bearable. I have been taking pain meds every 8-10 hours and they make a huge difference. I am sleeping well and even ventured out shopping with my husband today. My energy is good but I do take a short nap mid-afternoon.

I am not sure if I feel hunger or gas. I feel a deep rumbling in my tummy and it definitely feels empty around meal time but it's different than before. Watching food on tv is not as bad as I expected.

Overall I am feeling so lucky to have no issues or pain with eating or drinking. I am feeling so great I am almost afraid something terrible is to come, lol.

    Keep on keepin on, everyone.

I went through mercy's health management program in Fairfield, but had my surgery at Jewish because of silly insurance stuff. But, I feel pretty good! I had the lap band for 2 years before I decided to go this route...I wasn't losing and was really sick, so we decided to go with the sleeve. And already I can tell that this was a better option. Only trouble so far is getting dizzy when I get up and moving. What about you?! How are you doing?

Hi. I'm new to this site. Had my sleeve Wed, Dec 4th. Have been doing well. Getting my protein and liquids in with no issue. My clinic did not have a pre-op diet but I self imposed liquids and Ex -lax the day before my surgery, which my surgeon was pleased with. Well , here I am 4 days out and hadn't had a BM yet. Sorry if TMI. Tiny evacuation this morning. Question is, my stomach and intestinal muscles have been really sore all day. Haven't needed pain meds doctor prescribed, but sneezed a but ago and it was awful (as well as BM attempts). Anyone else having muscle issues in the area of he digestive system. Wonder if from pushing mostly unsuccessfully.

I have not had a BM yet, either. I am taking senna cot laxative once per day as instructed but have not tried to force anything.

Just give your body some time. It will happen. I had these same problems - bowels working very slowly and stomach soreness. I think it's all normal, so don't worry. Be sure to get all of your liquids in daily. That helps.

I did not have my first bm for 8 days after surgery. I took Miralax to add bulk and soften the bm. the more water you can get in the better. Don't force it unless you're uncomfortable. You're not taking much in, so there isn't much to come out!!

So glad to hear that your doing well also. I was wondering how you were today. I don't think I'm eating as much as you yet or drinking as much yet either but that is me because when I am really sick or have had surgery i notoriously don't eat or dtink. But I am trying to work on that daily. Hope that you have a continued uneventful healing as we go on.
