kind of freaking out my friend had sleeve surgery 2 years ago she got pregnant within the year and now she's gained all her weight back how does that happen
She fell off the wagon.
Somewhere along the way, she stopped controlling what she put in her mouth, started drinking when she was eating, and likely put hi fat/high calorie/high carb foods in instead of protein being the priority. And likely didn't exercise or stopped exercising. You have to follow the plan, or a similar reasonable plan to ensure long-term success.
So sad to hear. Hopefully you will know the things and actions NOT to do, or what to avoid.
The sleeve is not a cure for obesity it is a tool and if you don't use the tool correctly it won't work the choice to have the surgery should always be made knowing that you can never go back to what brought you here in the first place. It is up to each and everyone of us to retrain how we look at food and movement for the rest of our lives to get and remain healthy good luck on your journey mine just started on Dec 3-2013
I also have a friend that had RNY bypass 10 years ago and recently gained all of her weight back as well. You should understand that eventually you are able to overeat without feeling as much pain once you've been sleeved for a few years. That combined with poor food choices, grazing, and not moving will quickly put you into gaining rather than maintaining. I struggle with this myself. Maintaining for me has been much more difficult than losing. I think that a person just has to be mindful and not get complacent about eating healthfully.
