    Default The Nervous Newbie!

    Hi!

Im having my surgery on the 16th of this month and this liquid diet is kicking my ass! I know its all a mind thing and each day it is getting better. I know that by next week I will be okay. I'm a tad bit nervous about the surgery and I think it is mainly because everyone around me wants me to be. When I was calm cool and collected, everyone couldn't understand why. Now I'm all on the internet looking at pics again and getting nervous. Mainly about down time. Im hoping to only have like a week max of being off work so I'm hoping everything works out like it should. AAHHHH! LOL

Welcome I think it is very normal to be nervous and preoccupied with your upcoming surgery. It's healthy to do your research and be prepared. As far as a week of recovery goes, it may be difficult for you depending on the type of work you do. If you have a desk job, it might be okay, but be prepared to rest a lot when you come home from work.

    Welcome Jazz!

As far as down time I think it all depends on the person. My surgery was on a Tuesday and I went back to work the next Monday. But let me tell you, I wish I hadn't. I was literally exhausted, like hard to walk, hard to concentrate. So take as much time as YOUR BODY needs.

I didn't have to do the liquid diet pre op but 20 weeks later I still feel like I'm basically on a permanent liquid diet. It will get easier because you may not have a choice but to stick to liquids as I did. But good luck, I'm rooting for ya!
