Hi everyone! I'm super excited & slightly confused about a call just I received today from my insurance company. I was told that I have been approved for the Vertical Gastric Sleeve on Dec. 10th. Has this happened to anyone? I was elated but that's not the date my surgeon & I chose. So after the rep & I were on a few calls, we found out that it was just a tentative date. Just to let me know that I don't have to do 6 mos. of nutritionist visits (I did have 3 visits already.) I'm anxious to start my pre-op (after Thanksgiving). If there are ANY pointers ANYONE can give me... please do not hesitate. I could also us some support, as not many people know what is about to happen.

My Dr office said my ins (medicare, im on disability) will let me know AFTER I have the surgery on whether or not they will approve it...WTH? Congrats and good luck 2 u

Congrats. Insurance companies often do that. When my surgery was approved it was for a date some two months before the actual surgery. It's apparently a routine thing for the surgeon's office to get in contact with the insurance company and change the date. Seems as though it's a bit arbitrary. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! (^-^) We are correcting the date with the hospital. It should be 12/28/2013. I'm really anxious & excited! What has everyone had for pre-op meals? I could always use some fresh ideas.

Congrats! I'm sooo excited for you. Yep, I had the same phone call, wrong date, called the surgeon and they called and changed the date to what we spoke of...speedy recovery, this has been an amazing journey so far!

The actual date should be Dec. 28 (still waiting for the confirmation from the hospital).
