Does anyone know where I can go in the states to have this surgery? I am a band failure and have regained all but 25 pounds of the 80 that I lost with the band.
I have a doctor that I love in Mexico, but the travel freaked my husband out last time.
I am in the NW, but can travel anywhere in the states. There are no centers local to me - I am VERY rural.
Also need to mention that I am 189 on a 5'6" frame so my BMI is only 30.5

My husband is not willing to have me go to Mexico again. Love my doctor, loved the hospital, great care all around. The handler 'forgot' to call him when I came out of surgery and it scared him. I had my band removed, so I am back to how I was before this all started.

I had my surgery at Puget Sound Surgical in Edmonds, Washington. The surgeons there are excellent!!

With that low of a BMI I believe it will be VERY difficult to find a US surgeon who will take your case on, even with self-pay. Dr Kelly in TJ, Mexico did mine, and truly was WONDERFUL! This was my experience: http://www.gastricsleeve.com/forum/b...ence-long.html

Sergio Verboonen in Cancun but he also work in TJ. LOVE LOVE LOVE him. Would go back in a minute if my husband would agree to let me go to Mexico again. Message me if you have any questions - I would be happy to share my experience.

Unfortunately, I agree with everyone else. The only place you're going to be able to get it done is in Mexico. I had Dr. Lopez Cavala at Hospital Angeles and he was wonderful. I also had the lap band but it slipped and had to be removed. Been there, done that ! I feel your pain. Good Luck !

Right, I had Dr. Verboonen and would go back to him today if I could get my husband to agree to Mexico.

My surgery was in Boca Raton, Florida. It was all inclusive and was only $10,500 he is an excellent surgeon. I know several people on here who used Dr. Shillingford and as far as I am aware none of us have had any trouble. Good luck to you!

He's a great surgeon and it covers 2 days in the hospital, all tests, nutritionist for a year etc. In addition he is a great person that really does care for his patients. He gave me his cell phone to call him if I needed anything. Ask for Nancy she is his office manager and is absolutely terrific!!
