Hi guys had my pre op assessment today, was exciting and scary all at once, has anyone had the fobi ring added during their sleeve op? My surgeon is recommending it, would appreciate and thoughts xxx
I haven't heard of it. One of the advantages of the sleeve is they don't leave any foreign objects in our body (other than staples), so we don't have to worry about things slipping or rubbing. A number of people here have revisions from bands which sounds similar to this ring, so I'd be hesitant to be a test pilot for the device. But I'm not a doctor. Its probably worth a second opinion as there is only one you
The fobi is a plastic ring which stops the stomach stretching after a sleevectomy , it's not squeezed or filled like a band therefore erosion or slippage isn't a problem.its more for long term benefits rather than initial few months, the dry who invented it is Dr Mal fobi. I have to say it looks tempting and my surgeon is excellent gave me all the info and wants me to think about all my options before deciding, I'm booked in for 16th January so a little way to go yet. I'll dig out website he gave me to tomorrow, am in bed now. Lol xxx
I love the idea but I agree, I don't think I'd like the idea of something that might slip and to have it on top of raw skin with staples to boot?
Unless it's the full size of the stomach vertically, what's to keep the sleeve from just popping out above and below?
Here's some info I found -
Fobi Pouch
Best NSV - fitting on a kid's amusement park ride with my 4 yr old grandson!
CFIDS =Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) Also dx with post-bariatric reactive hypoglycemia; and chronic gastritis (both sleeve complications). Permanently disabled.
Start weight 335, down to 218, up during gastritis. Have accepted there is no way to lose it with my hypoglycemia. Current weight 260. Currently doing 10 day sleeve reset and determined to get back down to my post surgical weight or close to it.
