Default Time for a manly Tummy Tuck

Well, I decided I've lost about as much weight as I'm going to lose post-sleeve, so it's time for a tummy tuck/abdominoplasty (with liposuction) to get rid of all the excess skin on my deflated body.

I'm having Dr. German Newall of Houston, Texas do the honors on December 2nd. Cost is $10,300. I talked with several plastic surgeons in the Houston metro area, but felt the most comfortable with Dr. Newall. What sold me was his "before/after" photo book: there was a guy who looked exactly like my body looks from the waist down in a "before" picture, and he looked incredible 9 months later. At that point, I was willing to quickly part with my money!

I asked if I could get a liposuction OR an abdominoplasty, he said I could, but he guaranteed me that I wouldn't be pleased with the results. I've got one stubborn pocket of visceral fat in the middle of my gut that refuses to go away despite massive amounts of cardio and weightlifting, so I need lipo plus the tuck to remove the "ultimate muffintop".

Interestingly, I'm more worried about this operation than I was with my sleeve.

Wow, congrats to you Bob! It's great to see that you're taking things to the next step and really finishing out your process. I'm sure you're more nervous only because this is something that is very visible. I don't know if that makes sense, but being something that is the finishing touches can make you feel if you've perfected it or messed it up... my guess is that the perfection will be shining through!!! Good for you... great job and a wonderful success!!!

I went in for pre-op consult yesterday, and sitting in a plastic surgeon's waiting room is like living in another world.

There was a poor woman in there hunched over at the waist, she'd had a tummy tuck the previous week and without thinking picked up a 10 pound child off the floor. Bad news for her stitches!!

There were also two "plastic surgery addicts" there too, getting botox injections. Both of them looked incredible....like "too good looking to be true" incredible. Perfect hips, boobs, butt, face, arms, you name it.

    I survived the tummy tuck/lipo!

It hurt quite a bit, but I got some good designer drugs to take the edge off.

First day was a piece of cake. Second day, well, was the day from hell.

Woke up at 2 a.m. and had to pee. Got out of bed, was exceptionally light headed, fell down wedged between the bed and the wall. Couldn't move.
My adult son woke up at 5:30 and helped me back into bed. Took an industrial strength painkiller....all I wanted to do was sleep.
At 7:30 the urge to pee was so fierce that I thought I could handle a trip to the bathroom. Made it all the way into the bathroom and fell down AGAIN. Twisted the holy hell out of my right ankle. Somehow managed to get back on my feet and limped back to bed. I had a home health care nurse visit scheduled for 8:00 and she said you need to go to the hospital, you're severely dehydrated. So I called my son at work and he came home to drive me down there. We made it outside to the front sidewalk when I passed out again (3rd time), I pancaked my poor son and took 5 square inches of flesh off my left knee. I was seriously bleeding from my knee but didn't realize it until later.

Went to the plastic surgery hospital and got some first class care. I was so dehydrated the nurse couldn't find a vein to start an IV, so they got an anethesiologist to start one. They pumped 3 bags of Ringer's lactate into me and my head cleared up. Got my ankle iced and my knee cleaned up and came home.

    What a day!
