Ok, this is my 3rd (and I hope my final) attempt at posting this thread. Either my netbook is given me fits or the connection. That or I have posted 3 threads on the same topic! I am loopy from the surgery still but not quite that bad, so I hope not.
First off, the Marriott is lovely. Lots of staff to help you, everyone is courteous and smiles. The place is clean and feels like a haven. My room is large and comfortable. If you are the type who gets cold easily, bring some sweaters or a warm nightie to sleep in. The AC shuts off but I don't think there is much in the way of heat.
I liked the chicken broth ok the first night (pre-op) but after surgery - no way. It smelled very strong of chicken & seemed greasy. I couldn't eat any of it and it sort of stank up my room until I sealed the saran wrap back on it. It was such that I didn't want to chance dumping it in the toilet because the smell might have lingered in the bathroom, and then I would have really been sunk. Even the first night though I didn't think it was great, just ok.
The gift shop doesn't have Gatorade. They have zero calorie vitamin water and bottled water, soda pop & milk. I decided to take a chance on the peach nectar. I am so glad I did! That was the turned the corner on my nausea. It is thick & soothing and tastes like heaven. It has some sugar in it, which at this point I need something to keep me from keeling over. It's called del Valle Nectar, has a picture of peaches & a peach slice on the can and "Durazno" at the bottom of the can. There is a lemon nectar too, I can only vouch for the peach. It's heavenly!
There was no way I could have gone shopping, because car rides are out of the question when you feel this nauseous. Same with long walks out in public, who wants to walk with their emesis basin and have to sneak a puke in front of others. I told my doc I"ve been walking a lot, but in my room. I don't think he gets how nauseated I have been. Even the elevator has been hard to handle.
Anyway even after hours the desk staff will get you something out of the gift shop. The nectar is only a dollar for a big can, 335 ml.
