I have BCBS of Michigan and they required me to have six months of dietary group counseling. I was recently approved for surgery. My surgery date is January 20, 2014. Best of luck to you my friend.

I had BCBS in NY. I needed a psych eval, a few nutritional sessions, pre op work/clearance, and PCP approval. I got official approval from them about 2-3 days after I saw my surgeon to schedule a date.
