Anyone from the Utica NY Area????

I'm new to the Forum and actually just signed up Sunday Oct27th and I just love this Forum Site, Everyone is so Supportive and Kind, and I am so happy I found this site. I was just wondering if anyone is from the Utica NY area??? That is where I am from and I am having my Sleeve Surgery on Nov. 12th by Dr. Dalencourt. It would be great to hear if anyone is actually local here where I am.

Hi Amy, Thank you for the Welcome. I'm looking at your Ticker and by the looks of it you are doing pretty good with the weight loss. How has your journey been since the Surgery??? Mine as I posted is Nov. 12th so its comming up 10 days away actually. I'm worried about bleeding and leaking and also of hair loss because my hair already is on the fine/thin side to begin with. Not sure what to do when that starts to happen... I also received a phone call from my doctors office the other day and they told me that when I get home from the hospital that I have to give myself shots in my stomach for 10 days its a blood thinner so that I don't form blood clots did you have to do that as well??? I will deffinately keep everyone posted and updated on my progress and on my journey.

Lsc I never heard of the shots in the stomach... I know they gave me blood thinners in the hospital but the only meds that came home with me were pain meds.. Anti nausea.. Prilosec .. And one so stop spasms in your stomach. My dr said he has a 0% on leakage.. I have seen on here that's doctors vary quite a bit though.. Mine has kept me on full liquids for 2 weeks after and now I'm on a week of puréed then a week of soft to give my stomach a chance to heal. Good luck with everything it is worth it for sure!

Krisg68, Your diet is right on target with what my doctor is going to have me on as well exact. Like I said in my blog though I do have to give myself these injections for 10 days. Unfortunately. I guess I can do it, its only 10 days. I'm looking at your ticker and wow you have done good with loosing for being only 19 days good for you. I'm just hoping and praying all goes well, and hopefully no problems.. I look forward to posting my journey very soon.

Well the 240 was at the beginning of the whole process... I lost on my own when they told me to.. I was 215 the week before surgery

Amy, Utica NY is quite a ways from Buffalo, its about a good 3 hour drive actually. Although we are all upstate New Yorkers to say the least. Best of Luck in your Journey and can't wait to read about your journey. I also can't wait to start posting seeing that this upcomming Tues will be exactly one week til my surgery on Nov. 12th I'm getting so excited and so nervous. My doctors office called me Friday and just informed me that I will be taking shots for 10 days in my stomach its a blood thinner so that I don't form blood clots I just picked it up from the Pharmacy but I found out the needles are really tiny. I'm still a wreck because I have never given myself shots and its kind of freakin me out. Then again if I can go through having sleeve surgery I quess I can get through giving myself a shot for 10 days.
