    Hi!

I have spent the past couple of weeks here researching/soaking up the experiences of others' as they have traveled the sleeve journey. Today, I had my physical and exercise eval. Out of that birthed orders for a sleep study, stress test and GI Eval for a possible endocscopy...not to mention a slew of return appointments for gym, nut and doc. My head is spinning!

I have to say that the physical was really thorough, well over an hour just going over my history. Pretty amazing,

As of now, no they haven't said anything about getting one!

Your surgeon may not require one, rebecca. Mine did it just to check for hernias (I had one!) but he's gonna repair it when he's in there doing my sleeve. Lots of people don't have endoscopies and do have hernias and then the doctor just repairs them if he finds one during the surgery. No biggie.

Having an endoscopy was a really big deal for me because I hadn't ever been put out. It was good to go through a pre-op process and to understand what that was like.

I am much more emotionally ready for this surgery now. The surgery part used to scare me so much.

This is my first post. I haven't done the surgery yet, still debating. Have you made a decision?

I am pre-op. I am in the weigh in stage right now. I go next week for my 4th weigh in. There are a lot of us that have not had the surgery yet. I don't really post a lot. I like to read how other people are doing. It has helped me a lot. I was very nervous for awhile, but I have read so many posts from people who have already had the surgery that I now feel more confident than ever that this is the right choice for me. Where are you in your journey? Are you just starting out? Let me know how you are doing. I am always here if you just need someone to talk to during your journey.

I am pre-op, meeting with my surgeon on Tuesday. I am hoping for quick approval from my insurance company so I can have surgery in December. If December can't happen then I will have to wait until May because of work.

    Good luck!

I'm super early in the process. I've attended the required two hour initial seminar and turned in a form with basic info. I'm told the next step will be that I will get a call to come in for an appointment with the physician assistant.

I'm on my 5th day of the pre-op liquid diet. My surgery is on November 6th. I had to do an endoscopy, sleep study, lab work, mammogram, psych evaluation, dietitian evaluation, stress test, echo, pap test, breathing test, upper GI series, abdominal sonogram, attendance to at least 1 pre-op support group meeting, letter of support from my primary doc. All completed in one month! Talking about stress that month... so glad it's done! I'm on the pre-op diet , I have a surgery date but still waiting for the approval from the INS. I should hear from them next week. If I don't hear from them they will hear from me

    July 29th: 1st doctor visit 273 lbs
October 23rd: Liquid diet starts 253 lbs
    November 6th: Surgery 239 lbs
    December 6th: 1 month post-op 223 lbs
    January 6th: 2 months post-op 209 lbs

I'm pre-op! I have a few more tests to do and have my last appt with the PA in mid-November. Afterwards (and once all paperwork is done) I'll see the doc and then they'll send off for insurance approval. If all goes as planned I'll be less 3/4 of my stomach by the end of the year.

I am still waiting-I am in the fourth month of my six-month pre-op journey. This month, I will see the surgeon for the second time and continue my monthly visits with my pcp. I will also see a nutritionist in December and if all goes well, my paperwork will be submitted to the insurance by mid- to late January. I hope to be more confident, after my second visit with the surgeon, that the surgery will be approved. I just had cervical spine fusion surgery in September and hope that the additional expense does not factor into the approval for the sleeve surgery. I will keep you updated if you'd like? Good luck!
