Physically the most difference appears to be how long it takes for you to be able to overeat again and dumping.
I had the sleeve, my twin nieces (very like me physically) had the lap band and the rny so we have a whole range to compare. We also all had them the same month.
I'd never have lap band. I'd go without first. I'm really sick but my niece with the "chunk of plastic" (her words) inside her is much sicker. It's so enmeshed in her organs by scar tissue they can't remove it, ever.
I don't regret the sleeve but I have a far larger stomach than my niece with rny at this point. She can still only eat 3/4 cup of food and I can down 2 cups which is a normal "mature" sleeve. She is still losing weight. I'm gaining with the smallest amount of carbs, even 60 a day. She also still has enough dumping to keep her off sugar. At this point, if I weren't so ill otherwise, I'd probably go get the rny because I have had carb issues lifelong and any tool that helps keep them away is good. So, if carbs or glucose intolerance are issues for you, you might wish to discuss your options more fully with your doc.
