Default Question:How do you determine your goal weight?

On the ticker at the bottom of my post I have a starting weight my weight now and a goal weight. I chose my goal weight because that was the lowest weight I've achieved in the last 10yrs. There should be a more scientific method of choosing a goal weight. What is the best way to determining what you should.

I set mine from a BMI chart. Others have chosen a weight where they felt good when they used to weigh that. It's what you are comfortable with. You look like you're doing great!

I chose my goal weight as 170 which is what I weighed when I got pregnant with my twins in 2000. Haven't seen that weight since. LOL

I chose my goal weight (190) by sizing up a cashier at the grocery store. She was my height and my build (at least my build when I was her age which looked to be about 20) and she was gorgeous. I politely & discreetly asked her how much she weighed and explained exactly why I was asking. She told me, then sort of grimaced and said some have told her that she needs to lose weight. I told her that I didn't care because I thought she was stunning, and I hoped to look like her, which put a big smile on her face.

I've always hated weight charts and BMI charts because I feel that not only are they bogus science and present a false "standard" that doesn't accurately represent health, but they're a bottle of snake oil produced by the diet industry and are not good for morale either. No one knows your body better than you. Use your good common sense and strive for a goal weight that you can feel confident about. If later you want to lose a little more, you can always do so.

I chose my goal weight based on how I will feel comfortable and most of all healthy. 160 is still considered overweight for my height but I'm not aiming to be skinny. Just healthy and off of all these medx

I chose a goal weight to put on my ticker . Then when I reached that I changed it. Gives me a challenge. But if I don't meet it I am still happy with what I have done. It's all about being happy and comfortable in your (loose)skin

I picked a goal weight from remembering me on my first drastic diet. I went from 160 to 130. When I was 160, I obviously felt like I needed to lose a few (don't know why, looking back I looked great). But when I was 130, I felt too thin. So I picked 145 which is a cool 100 from where I was and in the middle of slightly big and slightly too small.

It's all personal! If the truth be known, I'd be happy anywhere near 160 or even anything below 180

I chose a realistic number I previously weighed and felt fantastic at! But its all fluid, I could get there and decide I want to lose more, or I could get close and decide that's enough!

I chose a mid-range weight in my healthy BMI range based upon my age, sex, and height.

Excellent question ... I kind of guessed and figured I could adjust it when I got somewhere close depending on how I feel. After all ... I haven't been that weight since I was four ... just kidding.

My surgeon's goal weight for me is a BMI of 29 which for me would be 163 pounds. I'm shooting for a goal weight that's the high end of the 'normal' scale. Really I worry more about being healthier and doing more than on the scale. It's taken 6 weeks to get to that point, but I finally learned it.
