    Default Pre-Op liquids start tomorrow!

Tonight at midnight starts my new way of life! I've pretty much eaten whatever I wanted for the past 3 weeks, guess you could call it a mourning/grieving phase and now I'm ready to move on! In fact, I can hardly wait! I am so thankful that I found this forum and all of you wonderful post & pre sleeves to share my journey with and have as a support base to help me through. Thanks for all the post, you never know how what you post may help someone else! Blessings to all!

Good luck to you! I happen to be going through the "mourning stage" myself. Let us know how your preop diet goes

You know, I honestly expected it to be worse. in a few hours I will be done with day 3, and constantly have to pee (worse than I ever was pregnant) but other than that I have not starved. I am drinking my protein drinks, plenty of soups turned to liquid in the Vitamix, I am allowed yogurt and of course all the clear liquids too. I honestly expected a nightmare, but I have been preparing for this for a few months and really didn't have a break-up period with food.

Best wishes and stay strong, keep your eye on the prize!!

I ate all my favorite things for about a month before my pre-op diet so I was ready for the liquids. I just completed day 6 of pre-op and today was my toughest day so far.
Good Luck and let the liquids begin!

Tomorrow will be harder for me, because I am going into town to have my hair cut so all the 'forbidden items' will be within reach!

Hey, I see many of us have lost weight on the pre op op diet (regardless of the kind followed). I have lost 11 pounds. ...The issue is the husband and family who think and say. .."see. ..what did I tell you. ..all you have to do is stick to a plan!" Ummmm. ..duh. Sheesh....

SeaShell, my youngest son can not imagine why I would want or need to go and have surgery to lose weight. He thinks exactly like your husband does...just stick to the plan. My cousin (who is overweight too) thinks I am taking the easy way out. Its frustrating, but I have decided to take it like the cliche says...until they have "Walked a mile (or maybe a year) in my shoes, they can not understand why I am choosing to go this route. And I am OK with that!

To the others in this post, I am 26 days to surgery, I am "practicing" my preop with protien shakes for breakfast and lunch and then whatever I want for supper. I have actually lost a couple pounds this way. My biggest sacrifice will be soda. Its like my drug of choice. Now that's going to be really hard. Although I have cut way back in this practice stage.

I wouldnt worry about the pre-op diet. Its difficult at first because it feels pretty extreme not having any solid food in your stomach but it gets easier every day especially as your body gets used to it and as you become more and more invested in it. At first there is plenty of apprehension but once you have put time in on the liquid diet, your resolve to stay the course strengthens immeasurably. My foolishness came when I started envisioning all the foods I would eat after the surgery when I could start eating a full diet again. I've definitely learned that its quite different. No matter how many times I heard how slowly I would have to eat and about the chewing very thoroughly, I never really fully appreciated what a large scale change that would be for me. I'm very pleased with it overall though since I needed drastic changes in the way I ate or my health would have continued to deteriorate. Good luck and hope you sail through the pre-op.

I love it when people tell me I'm "taking the easy way out" because I just laugh and agree with them. I like to respond that it's WAY easier than dying slowly from being unable to afford enough salad to sustain me. If that doesn't seem to get the point across Then I tell them how much easier having someone slice into my body 4 times and chop my stomach in half is. Then I like to continue explaining how EASY it's going to be to not be able to eat more than a few ounces at a sitting every time my family and friends decide that going out to eat is really the best way to celebrate anything. And how much I'm sure they'd LOVE the new vitamin regimen I'm gonna have to follow for the rest of forever.

And if none of those things work, I usually just challenge them to eat exactly the way I do, for the rest of their lives too.
    See how they manage.
