I am scheduled for sapt 8 2014 At MI doctor hospital
I used A Lighter Me and had Dr. Elias Ortiz at MI doctor hospital and was totally pleased! The hospital is a 4 or 5 story hospital so small compared to those we see here in the US but my care was excellent. The whole nursing staff was wonderful and the hospital was very clean..
I also used Dr. Elias Ortiz at Mi Doctor and could not have been more pleased!! Everyone was wonderful my husband walked down the road to get lunch both days we were there--from A stand on the side of the road that he could not stop talking about he said the food was wonderful!! The staff was wonderful I was never in pain nor did I have to ask for pain meds. they really stayed on top of it-I was never in pain! Most of the nurses understand English and Dr. Elias and his assistant both spoke very good English. Everyone was wonderful I would love to go back bring patience and highly recommend both Dr. Elias and his staff.
I too went to Michigan Dr hospital in September 2012 with dr. Lopez with a lighter me, my entire experience with both the coordinator and the physician was exceptional , I would highly recommend going there ,no problems at all.

I had surgery Nov 11, 2013. I had a very good experience. Im a nurse so I know what to look for. I had some post-op bleeding, but they handled it appropriately. Gave me IV fluids and me on bedrest for a while. I had no pain, ever. They put pain meds in my IV every 6 hrs. My sister was with me, and she thought the little cafe on the ground floor of the hospital was good. I recommend ALighter Me and Dr.Ortiz. Good luck to you.
I had my sleeve done at MI Doctor by Dr Ortiz. The entire experience was fantastic. The hospital was spotless and the care was outstanding. The Doctors took time to explain things, which I liked. Just about everyone spoke English. There were very few who couldn't, and they would tell you that they only spoke a little English so you would know. My surgery was on June 30th, so very recent. There is a safe in the room that you program and keep your things in. The Internet was fine. In face we watched a Netflix movie on the computer via the internet and had no issues. I don't know if there is no doctor there at night, however, when I was in pain the evening of surgery, they got the ok for pain meds very quickly. So even if they are not there, they are readily available. I went through A Lighter Me and from what I was told, the doctors stay at the Marriott, where I was after surgery. So they are very close if needed. I don't regret it at all and would do again in a minute in Mexico. When I got back, I had a question for the doctor. I emailed him and he responded within an hour. I think that is pretty quick.
There have been many posting on this thread aside from me who started it - would help to either quote who you want to answer your question or indicate somehow who are directing this question to. I understand my original post is over a year old so it's understandable you'd want a more current point of view.
One of the reasons I chose Hosp Angeles in TJ was because of their accredidation by the Mexico General Health Council and pending JCI certification. From what I have researched they stringent infectious disease control comparable to top specialty hospitals in the US. JCI mandates high standards and protocols and the hospital participates in international clinical trials.
To be honest, other than the Centers for Excellence in TJ, I was unable to find more detailed information about the other hospital (MI, Florence, surgical centers, Vida, etc..).
You do pay a bit more than the local small hospitals or centers but IMHO it is well worth it.
