    Default blah and blahher

Not having a good day. So, I posted the other day about having GI issues and we all figured out it was because for two mornings in a row I had decaf coffee. Friday, I felt better with less GI issues, but still issues. I woke up this morning still having issues, but I have been really bad about getting all my water in so I made myself 24 oz of iced decaf tea and watched tv. I finished half of it...took me 2 hours....and I was getting up every 15 minutes to hit the bathroom.

I had a few sips of water a little later, after a massage, and then I hit up the drive thru of Chick-fil-A to get some chicken soup. I decided I wasn't hungry once I got home, so put it in the fridge and then took a 3 hour nap. I woke up still having issues, but I was dehydrated and hungry, so I made some ginger herbal (caffeine free) tea and sipped on that...then waited 30 minutes and heated up 1/3 of my bowl of soup. I ate it and then I threw it up. Then I threw it up again. Then I threw up some more. Then I had other GI issues.

I have now been sipping on some Powerade Zero in an attempt to get hydrated and some electrolytes in me. I'm hungry, but afraid to eat. I'm thinking I have some kind of a bug. What sucks is that I know I should follow the BRAT diet - bananas, rice, applesauce, toast - but of those the only think I would feel comfortable eating is applesauce and I'm not quite sure it's even worth trying considering there's not much nutrition in it....or at least not what I need.

I'm really just venting cuz I'm upset....and hungry....hoping tomorrow is a better day. If not, I'm calling my surgeon Monday morning.

Hope y'all are having a nice weekend.

How about some coconut water? It has electrolytes in it and it's natural. Feel better.

I had a thought. Could it be lactose intolerance? I had temporary lactose intolerance that lasted about 2 1/2 months after surgery. It may have been over sooner, but it took me that long to try milk again. Cheese and yogurt never bothered me though. I agree that yogurt is good to try whenever digestive issues arise and the Greek kind has more protein. Take care and I hope you feel better soon!

Hi Kim, I am sorry to hear you aren't doing/feeling well. I don't know if our surgeon allows it, but you can get Emetrol OTC for the nausea and vomiting. It used to work really well on me. Let me know if I can do anything to help. Hugs. Cathy

If brat diet or applesauce is all you can keep down, it's more nutrition than nothing. Was the soup very rich or spicy? I'm sorry you are trying so hard & being so careful but still having trouble. Nausea is the worst.

Sorry you're not feeling well Kim. If its a stomach virus give it 24 to 48 hours to clear up. Make sure you keep hydrated. If you're not better by Monday, please call your surgeon. Feel better!

Ok so what is the BRAT diet? in the meantime Kim - even if you can't eat - get the water in. Hydration is the most important thing. Keep us posted - I'm very concerned about you!

Every journey begins with one small step....
