Wow. I have never heard of this before. Honestly, if you have never had it since you were a baby, I wouldn't think you would be one of the ones who have the problem. I had about 2 minutes of nausea the first time I stood up. I threw up only once, at 8 weeks out, but strangely had no nausea. I just took a couple of bites of sugar free pudding, and for some strange reason it just came back up. If you are hit with it, just breath in through your nose and out your mouth. This is a trick I learned in the dental chair. Good luck with it!!!

I have not vomited once. As for nausea only a tiny bit right after waking up. One shot later gone.

Well, I have never met so many emetipobic people!! Thought I was the only one!

Haven't thrown up since HS, almost 30 years ago and happy to say my "streak" is still intact after surgery. Got really nauseous once the second day after surgery but years of practice holding it back with deep breathing worked. Only took Compazine once after I got home. No problems at all.

My doctor told me that more people throw up with the bypass or the lapband.

They will do everything they can in the .hospital to help you not be nauseated. The last thing they want is for you to vomit with a newly stapled sromach. I was nauseated at home for the first week but not too bad. I never took any of the pain meds in the hospital or at home. This will help keep the nausea at bay. And I never even came close to vomiting. Best of luck to you!

Thank you so much for all your responses, you give me hope! So much so that I actually contacted a surgeon today and they are checking with my insurance to see if it would be covered! Fingers crossed!

    Hi and welcome!

I am the opposite- I suffer from severe anxiety and I vomit almost every day. Sometimes more than once a day. I guess I am used to it by now.

I'm sorry you have this fear. In my experience, I have felt better after I have vomited than I did before. Maybe you can talk with a therapist on how to over-come this fear because chances are you will feel nausea and/or vomit at some point of this journey.

I'm 15 days out and only threw up (dry heaved really) when the gave me hydrocodone by mouth in the hospital. I had on an allergy bracelet to prevent, as this is the known result for me with hydrocodone by mouth, but other than that which shouldn't have happened in the first place, no nausea whatsoever.

Don't worry about hurting my feelings because I guarantee you not one bit of my self esteem is tied up in your acceptance.
