That is so sweet of you, thank you. I think that I have been fat for so long (never been thin) that I don't feel the names anymore, if I did I would never get out of my bed because someone always has something to say, in return for the name calling I make myself happy by going up to people (not matter the size) and telling them that they look really great, you would never believe how embarassed people get when they are told that they look wonderful.

The bypass does not remove the whole stomach, it is called a bypass because a small pouch is made at the top of your stomach and your intestines are detached from the bottom of your stomach and reattached to that small pouch, bypassing a very important valve at the bottom of your stomach that allows you to digest food and medicine before it enters your intestines. After bypass surgery, you have to have crushed or liquid medicines forever. That is why I chose the sleeve, no bypassing anything, just making the stomach smaller, everything else stays in tact!

Lily, thank you for this great thread. Usually I like all the messages I enjoy, but they were all good in this thread, so I forgot to LIKE them.

Do let us hear what you hear from your doctors. I hope your sleeve is approved, and that you're soon on your way to a slimmer, healthier Lily.

BTW, the love and support expressed for you in this thread is just awesome!

    Thanks,
    Ann

I had the same title. And the BMI of 50 was really what slapped me in the face. Yes I had also been heavy my entire life but seeing those numbers made it real and undeniable. I am now 1 month postop from the sleeve and am happy to saw my BMI is already down to 44. That is still morbidly obese but it us a step in the right direction. Good luck to you.
