Hello, I think the sleeve will totally help me because I am not trying or wanting to be skinny or then, just smaller. I weigh 321 and I would love to get down to 200, maybe even 199. I actually like me now, those words just sounded so awful, way worse than being called fat.

Thanks so much. I have been working on eating better, and I worked with a dietition who helped me to recognize my hungry signs.! More protein has also been helpful.

I completely get your reasoning. I don't want the bypass because it removes the whole stomach.

    Lily,

you are not alone. I too fall into the super morbidly obese category....but look at us - we have found a place where others understand and have been or are also where we are. The good thing is that we're all working to change the 'overweight, fat, obese, morbidly obese' that apparently defines us - medically, that is.

I hope you don't run into any more road blocks.

    Welcome.

I bet they did sound awful. Sometimes the clinical descriptions hurt. Good for you for wanting to change your life!

You're not a monster. You're just a person with a serious weight problem. Being overweight is not a character flaw, not a crime against humanity, it is just a big health risk and the main person affected is you, and those who love you.

Lots of people on here start at 300+, you're not alone. Good luck on your journey.

I just finished up with the psych and behav doctors, now I am waiting to get my go ahead, it has only been a week of waiting and it is driving me batty. I find myself trying to find all kinds of things to do so that I will not think about this because I can't wait, I am very excited.

I understand. I am not as full figured but I have a friend who is and all those words hurt ... however there is hope at the end of the tunnel. That is how I feel, like there is an answer to my problem. I don't like my weight but I won't let anyone tell me there is no hope because there is. Is getting your Bariactric surgery outside of your insurance an option? I refuse to be denied. I may have to wait a little but I will not let anyone control my future. If I have to save all my pennies and get on a payment plan for the services in Mexico I will get this life changing procedure done. Stand strong you have friends and support here at Gastric Sleeve. Be at peace, your future is so BRIGHT!!!! : D

Glad you mentioned the food plan, it is hard trying to eat differently, learning to eat differently, and now i'm practicing the protein replacement MAN, this is work. I never had to work to get fat, it is how I came and have never been any different so I am now doing all kinds of different things.

I never understood when my nutritionist kept saying that the sleeve is a tool not a magic bullet. Now I do! I figured if I am eating so much less I will automatically lose weight. I recently hit a plateau and see I still have to work at it. Still have to eat healthy and exercise - but now If I do those things I get great results. Still a challenge but do-able. It is very worth it cause you feel so good when you get positive results.

I just joined this site a couple days ago myself. I am really glad to be here. I too am classed as Super Morbid Obese at 5'2" and 298 pounds when I started. I have already lost 6 lbs by dropping soda from my diet and eating more meat, vegetables, and fruit and less bread, pasta, and sweets.
I am hoping to get my sleeve done in January or early February at the latest. You have come to the right place! WE ARE NOT MONSTERS!. You will do better with the sleeve than the lap band anyway. You will lose more weight! Damn the man that invented the BMI charts. He did not take into consideration that there is more to it than height versus weight! Welcome! I look forward to talking more with you as we share this journey. There is a lot of good information and inspiration here on this site, look around, it's hard to miss!
