I just had my three month check up today. I am 216 pounds, down near 97 pounds from the day I met Dr. Glasnapp. I asked her today about a couple of things since I was concerned about the future.
1. I seem to eat more than most (between 6 - 10 oz of food depending on density) -- she explained she uses a "40 french bougie", honestly I wasn't even sure what the heck she was talking about, but she explained that research has shown the best long term success with this size of "pouch" and that my eating habits were within normal expectations. She thinks I will be at goal by the holidays.
2. Stretching of the pouch - she also explained to me that some stretching of the pouch is possible; however, it would never ever be to where you could eat the portion size you did pre-op. And, that, generally people gain back their weight with poor food choices and lack of commitment to the process.
3. Frequent eating - I explained that I eat every 2 hours or so, due to being hungry. She also said this was good as with my exercise and food choices that I am keeping my metabolism high throughout the day instead of having peaks and valleys throughout the day. Just keep making good choices with the occaisional treat.
I am no longer on any medication what-so-ever besides vitamins. And, I should continue, and will to take in daily protein supplements (bars and shakes). My blood was drawn (7 tubes - ugh) and barring any weird results from that I don't go back until the beginning of December.
