I basically weighed the pros and the cons and came to the point where I would rather die trying to live than keep suffering like I was. I was the walking dead from being so obese and all of my health problems. This surgery saved my life.

I know from being of Italian heritage that a huge portion of our culture revolves around food. It's hard to move that mindset from food to healthy activities, and some people make that move faster than others. You have to do what is best for you, and for your health. I saw both my parents die from weight related complications, and 2 of my 3 siblings have horrible issues. I am not waiting passively in line for my turn.

My surgery date is the day after yours. I just found out today that 2 weeks from Friday I'll be on my way. I'm scared too, but I'm more afraid of what the rest of my life looks like if I don't do this. We GOT this!
