Y'know Nancy, you'll be able to have a slice of pumpkin pie, a small one, if you leave room, just like a normal person.
Laurie, more than anything, this surgery has made my eating normal. I'm not hungry all the time, I'm satisfied with the kind of serving a small woman should take (which is what I actually am -- now I can see my wrists and ankles).
I don't feel deprived and I'm not on a diet. I can eat any food (although some are obviously better choices than others).
I love my little banana stomach (as one of our colleagues here called it) -- you'll love yours too and you'll love being able to enjoy food in moderation. It's such a good feeling.

I feel the same way !! My surgery is in 15 days and I'm so nervous just thinking about it . I too have found myself lying in bed at night thinking am I sure I want to do this ?!?! I'm hypoglycemic as well so I have so many fear going on right now I want to cry which I have already done a couple times ... I keep thinking okay surgery scary ! Hypoglycemia on top of that scary ! Will I take in enough all these things . Everyone says that it will be the best decision I have ever made ( other than marrying my wonderful husband ) I work with a girl who has had the sleeve and she says its really no pain just some nausea and gas pains he advised me to get liquid gas x and out the next day shopping . Good luck with everything I feel same way as you do !

Hi there! I just had my surgery on Sept 11 and I feel great! I've had prior surgeries, so I didn't have to deal with the anxiousness that comes with the first one. My pain after surgery was well managed; I stopped taking the pain meds 19 hours after the surgery! The gas pain wasn't too bad....it comes from the gas that they pump into your body to make it "balloon" a bit so they can see and get to things better. I had no nausea; the nurses gave me pepcid as per doctor's orders; he also wrote a prescription for it to take for three months. Getting up and moving about helps to rid your body of the gas, as does burbing and ..well...passing gas! I did spend a lot of time wondering if I really wanted to have the surgery.....mostly did I want to give up eating my favorite things....but I know that I can a bite or two of them and still be okay. I needed this surgery in order to lose weight to have a total hip replacement; I WANTED this surgery to open up a new life for me. Any temporary feelings of discomfort from surgery will go away....this new life is SO worth it!
