I think you should visit the gastric bypass website to get your answers. This website is for gastric sleeve people. I haven't come across any bypass patients other than those who are on here by mistake. While I'm sure there are many of us who can answer some of your questions, it's best if you reach out to those who have had a gastric bypass. I wish you the best of luck with your decision! I know that for me the sleeve has been a great choice. I has my surgery a little over seven weeks ago. I've had no complications or problems eating and getting in my fluids. I've lost a total of 40lbs (inc. 6 lbs lost on the pre op diet).

Long ago I started with the sleeve only to have complications and end up with a modified bypass. I think the most important thing you can do is research who is going to do your surgery and their success rate. I know I have personally done very well with my modified bypass, but I also suggest searching out a bypass site and getting some feedback. Good luck in your decision!

Not a problem! I was worried that you were going to feel like I was trying to kick you off this forum!...not my intention at all! I found the following web site for gastric bypass. It is set up very similar to this website. Here is the link: RNYTalk - the #1 Roux en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery support forums!

I had the gasrtic sleeve 11 months ago, Best decision I have ever made. My surgeon was/is wonderful. His rule is if a patient is very obese he recommends the gastric by-pass if they aren't as much then he recommends the sleeve but ultimately it's the patients decision.
Your weight is in the low 200's, I would get the sleeve. This way if you eat something at a party or eat something you weren't supposed to you won't get dumping. Dumping Syndrome was a big influence on my decision. Its where if you eat something sweet/sugary you will have the runs, you'll spend all day in the bathroom.
I weighed 260 pounds, my doctor explained it all, basically it was my decision. I chose the sleeve and 10 months later I reached my goal of 130. Today at 11 and a half months out I'm 122 pounds and am very happy, I haven't felt like this in years.
I hope this helps. Good luck to you in what ever you decide.

    Best Wishes,
    Rose
