Default Pre op diet..I just can't?

So this is going to sound like a lot of whining, cus it is! I should have started my preop diet Monday...it's thusday night and I still haven't even went to store for all the stuff.. I've just had so many apps! I'm talking 3,4 a day!(I had some abnormal preop tests last week, so I've had to see a ton of people!) I just keep changing the date, "I'll start after Labor Day" "I'll start after my daughter bday" now I'm saying "I'm not gonna lose any weight anyway, so I'll start Monday, that would give it a week" my surgery is the 16th, I wish I was as excited as I was last month when I got my surgery date? I think Im scared that: it won't work, I won't be able to stomach the protein, that it will be painful.. Yep those are all the things racing in my brain, I know it's sabotaging me before I even start!

Well unfortunately for you....the pre op diet is it shrink your liver because it lays over the stomach...no shrunken liver...no surgery....my surgeon is known to stop the procedure if he scopes a patient and the liver is not shrunk...you better talk to your dr and fess up. No use going under if you can't have the surgery . Good luck

I'm not questioning you as much as I want you to question yourself...Do you REALLY want this surgery? Because if you don't, no big deal, call the doc and cancel and enjoy whatever you want as long as want.

But if you do want this and are serious about it, You really NEED to get your fanny in gear! The Pre-op diet isn't a punishment, it isn't to make you miserable or unhappy. It is a PROTECTION, it shrinks your liver as previously mentioned, so that the likely hood of getting a nick on that very sensitive organ is reduced significantly. It is to clean out your system to give you the best opportunity to embrace the new life you have been looking forward too. Stop procrastinating and making excuses to eat whatever you want because you have lived all he way until now doing that very thing. I'm giving you some tough love here, suck it up, and get on with the business of living. There is no future in your holding on to a pattern of behavior that has led to the state you are in right now.

BE AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT IN YOUR LIFE< NOT A PASSIVE BYSTANDER!! <3

Honestly, I appreciate the tough love! I know what I needed to do and a month ago I was so anxious to start the diet and get to my surgery! I definately think I had some crazy "wiling out" after I went away for Labor Day! Now I'm just being lazy! I called my dr office this morning and they called me back saying the dr said if I did 7 days full liquid we would still be on track.. Well I deserve this, instead of doing low cal for two weeks I now need all liquid. I'm totally seeing this as a good thing. I need this off food cold turkey. Thank you guys for your honest feedback I never would have admitted this to my dr without it!

Good For You!! I am so proud of you for calling your doctor and getting this on track!! My doctor had me of 5 days of a clear liquid diet. Full liquid sounds pretty good compared to that. Keep us updated and happy Pre-op diet.

The first steps to a new YOU, celebrate this day!

I'm so proud of you and you should be proud of yourself for calling your doctor! I'm sure that wasn't an easy call to make, but I'm so glad you did it in time to salvage the pre-op diet so everything stays on the same track you were expecting!! Time to buckle down and do what ya gotta do!! best of luck!

Hi Julie....I too have surgery on your date. Starting the liquid and no sugar yogurt and such on Sunday. I have to do 7 to 10 days and know that after Lobster Dinner on Sunday I will have to stay on track. Be strong and know that being fit and healthy is worth all of the deprivation for a time. Just went out and bought my jello and protein shakes. Now just have to get psyched!

The pre op diet helps more then you know. Not only does it shrink the liver, but it helps you deal with the decrease in the amount of food after the surgery so it won't be as much as a shock. For me i went thru the caffeine, sugar and carb withdrawls before I had the surgery so I didn't have to suffer
    after.
