    Question Peanut butter....

Okay so tomorrow I get whole liquids and next monday I get soft foods. My question is when can I have peanut butter in general and would it count as a liquid due to the fact that when it gets warm it liquifies. What about almond butter or sunflower butter? And later down the road when can we have peanuts, almonds, cashews etc? And what about sugar free chocolate when is that allowed? I was at a birthday party today with my kids and I thought maybe next time I will take a sugar free peanut butter cup or chocolate to not feel as deprived and left out at cake and ice cream time. No one puts these items on the post op instructions. Disclaimer: I am not looking to be scalded or given a talking too about one day eating a SUGAR FREE chocolate etc. Im not talking about having them daily hourly or minutely just on special times like the birthday parties maybe thanksgiving at pie time and so on to help with the left out deprived feeling

Have you heard of PB2? I haven't tried it but I have read several peeps say they use this in place of PB.

I don't think PB would be counted as a liquid. I had some of the Jif whipped PB it is not as thick and hard to swallow as regular PB, its
real fluffy. PB was on my list at 5 weeks out.
I am 6 weeks out and still have not had any kind of nuts, I was a popcorn freak before surgery and its on my No list for 3 months so I think
    nuts would be the same.

I had creamy peanut butter at about 1.5 weeks out. I just took a teaspoonful and just licked at it for like 20 minutes. It was such a nice change from all of the sweet protein shakes. As for the nuts and the SF chocolate, follow your dr's instructions.

If my doctor gave me any instructions I would follow on that, and thank you for the info on the peanut butter and the fluffy peanut butter.

I had a protein bar with peanuts at 4 weeks. My NUT said to take a bite and wait, if all is good, take another bite. I've been eating Natural PB since about 4 weeks also. When I have a need for a sweet I put a tab bit of PB on a Murrays sugar free shortbread cookie and enjoy it.

find the vitamin shop by you and look for chef jays Tri-O-Plex protein cookies. I have tried chocolate chip and double chocolate and they are good! I prefer the double chocolate ones they have 9 grams per 1 cookie they are decent size and come in packs of 2 cookies for like $2.79. They cure my chocolate, cookie, cake and brownie cravings. I only have 1 occasionally I do not use it in place of a meal but as a snack if I need it. I will pick up 3 packs and the 6 cookies will last me a few weeks. the last time I went in for my cookies I saw they also have a protein rice crispy treat, I only bought 1 to try and it was so good i will be buying more! You can also buy them online. As far as peanut butter goes it is the only thing that has not agreed with my tummy so I am just staying away from it, I have thought about giving PB2 a try though. I also have chocolate skim milk every morning as part of my breakfast I use skim milk and torani sugar free chocolate syrup (bought at walmart by coffee). I use the raspberry torani to flavor plain greek yogurt as my nut told me to stay away from fruit yogurt due to sugar. I hope some of these ideas help, good luck

Hi Kellie! I use the natural peanut butter with the oil on the top with flaxseed in it. It's really good and gives not only a bit of a different flavor but you get the nutrition benefit of the flaxseed. Anyhow, I would make myself a loose oatmeal and put a spoonfull of the peanut butter in it and mix it throughout. It made the oatmeal a little firmer so make sure you start with a looser oatmeal or experiment.
I had various forms of peanuts and other nuts in the protein bars I ate. I think I started them about a month after surgery, but again, everyone is different. You have to try it and see how it reacts with you.
Just take it easy, eat slowly and savor the various tastes of your food. You can also put the peanut butter in your protein shake for the flavor...yum. Good luck!

PB was and has been my go to sweet for the last few weeks. I take a tsp full and sit and let it melt in my mouth. I'm 5 weeks out today! I do use the natural kind . As far as nuts go I have no problem with almonds raw unsalted. They are one of the most health beneficial nuts out there ! Good fats and when I was stalled at the 3 week point almonds kicked my weight loss in gear ! I have them every other day as a snack ...I would eat one chew chew chew swallow and wait to make sure it sat in my tummy ok and I had no problem....everyone is different

PB has been my "Go To" since week 2 after my surgery... I still NEVER get hungry so I make sure to at least have a spoon full of PB to get something into my system if I don't feel like eating... It has been a great way to add more protein into my system

Kellie, PB2 is the powered peanut butter that I got at Kroger.
