Anyone from Massachusetts?

This site is great, but overwhelming to figure out which thread to look at, subjects of interest; so many great discussion groups, opinions - great information. I am from the Boston area. Anyone from this area? I have not seen many Massachusetts posts, but like I said this site is huge! Honestly we are all in the same boat, no matter what state or country we are from; just curious if there are many from Massachusetts - or New England in general. But hello to all!

Hi Cindy, I was born and raised in Taunton, MA. My entire family still lives there and I visit at least once a year and do some business travel up that way as well. I moved down south to go do school, and somehow wound up married and never returned . I do love living in the south, but New England is home!!

Hi Rhonda! My daughter just moved from Taunton a few weeks ago! She lived there a year; she moved there to be closer to her boyfriend's law school U-Mass in Dartmouth. Taunton is a town where she liked fine, but it was too far for her commute to work in Framingham. She moved to N. Attleboro. She went on vacation last year to New Orleans! She and her boyfriend really enjoyed themselves. It was in the summer - very hot, but a great deal for flight and hotel. A former co-work of mine lived for many years in New Orleans. It sounds like a very interesting place to live. I would love to visit the area sometime in the future, but not in the summertime! I hate the heat very much. Actually I am hoping when I lose weight that I will not be so hot, but not sure about that because I still hated the head when I weighed 130 pounds many years ago. I love reading about everyone's experience with the gastric sleeve, whether they have had the surgery yet, or contemplating the surgery. Thanks for responding, and it is nice to hear from a former New Englander.

If you are considering the gastric sleeve, don't wait another second. Best thing I ever did for myself... Only regret, as many of us will say is that we did not do it sooner. no diabetes, no high blood pressure, no sleep apnea... all disappears within a year!! it is a miracle.

I am having the Lap band removed in a few weeks. My surgeon requires a wait of three months from this surgery before performing Gastric Sleeve. I intend to do it either at the end of 2013, or beginning of new year. I am researching and getting informed as much as I can regarding this surgery, and the ramifications of having this surgery. I am slowly integrating a new way of eating, exercise, and a de-stressing of my life over the next few months. I am looking forward to having the surgery to give me the extra tool that I need to help me get healthier and be a "normal/average" size. I am sick of being overweight, and am now ready to make the changes necessary to have a smooth transition to a healthier and happier life. Being able to share my thoughts and ideas, and questions with this website is an incredibly wonderful thing. We are all in this together..

Well, best wishes to you. Hope you love the sleeve as much as I do! I am going to New England to my folks house for Thanksgiving this year. Best time of year in New England. Fall was always my favorite season in the North. In the South, it is Spring that is lovely.

I'm from Framingham I'm waiting for my date. Can I ask where your going and your Dr. I was going to Natick hospital but, my dr's office called and my dr lost his license lol well, that did it for me! Talk with a woman Sharon from Boston she went to Beth Israel.

Hi Wanda. Dr. Sheldon Randall is my surgeon. According to his office manager, Terese, his issue with the license should be straightened out by the end of September. He is a great surgeon; seems like paperwork snafu. I have an appointment in that same office on Wednesday 9/11. I will be sure to ask more questions. I do want to find out more about the situation. I will write to you on Wednesday when I know more. I doubt it is due to negligence or anything like that. When he first brought the Bariatric program to Natick, the hospital had to go through steps to achieve a certain level - so many surgeries performed, etc. We will see... My daughter had gastric bypass at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. My surgeon Dr. Sheldon Randall taught her doctor! Dr. Shakur? something like that. Good look; let me know how it goes for you. Cindy

Hi there! I am certain credentialing issues are with facility and not doc. I am home from mexico after my tummy skin removal. He did a fabulous job! Very tired and in a bit of pain, but progressing nicely. He was not able to do the arms because my hemoglobin was low, so i am scheduled to go back in March and will do arms and breast. What a journey. He removed 10 lbs of pure skin from tummy.

I too am from Boston and had my sleeve with Dr. Vernon at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital. Private rooms at Faulkner and I got great care there!

I am also from MA. Born and raised in Amesbury and now living in Salisbury. I'm meeting with my surgeon on Tues. and hoping I can set a date. I have been to all but 2 remaining meeting and have all my medical testing, met with everyone. Crossing my fingers that by Tues I will have a date hopefully mid November. Wish me luck.

Hi,, Im from NH,, right on the boarder of mass.. surgery will be in Lowell Ma.. On my way,, still a newbee.. first weigh in was tuesday.. lost 4lbs.. preop..excited to see the light at the end of the tunnel
