Default MzAJones 4 months out of surgery:

    Hello everyone,

I am Alice Jones, I am new to the site. I am looking forward to communicating with each of you. I had surgery on April 23, 2013. I have lost 41 lbs and am at a plateu. I have not been doing what I suppose to be doing therefore; I decided I need to start communicating with individuals who have under gone sugery like me. Please feel free to share ideals with me. I am at the phase where you lose your hair and I'm not a happy camper. This is the reason I decided to come to the forum to communicate daily. Do anyone have a suggestion on what I need to do concerning starting my weight lose again. Thanks for taking out the time to read my status.

Welcome to this site! I have not been sleeved yet but I had the LapBand for 6 years (just removed 2 months ago) and now I am awaiting my sleeve. In my personal WLS experience and from what I have read on this site for the last 3 months I would say try some or all of the following:

-Don't drink liquids within 30 min before eating and 1 hr after you take your last bite.
-Increase your water intake to a minimum of 64 oz a day ( I've been told half your body weight is better)
    -Take vitamins daily:
MultiVitamin, Sublingual B-12, Calcium w/D, Iron (only for women), Vitamin D (additional to the Calcium w/D), B-Complex
-Increase your protein intake to at least:
80-90 grams per day (whole food such as fish, chicken, greek yogurt, eggs, etc.)
    OR
110+ grams per day (protein supplements such as protein bars, shakes, etc.) as your body absorbs less grams of the supplemental proteins

These are just some suggestions that I have heard on here as well as what my surgeon/nutritionist has enforced to us. Also from my best friend who had the sleeve on 4/8/2013 and she has lost 62lbs since surgery date (she was within 10 lbs of your starting weight at time of surgery) trying to follow these rules. Just remember don't compare your weight loss to others. Each persons body loses at a different rate Good luck and I hope you find something that works for you

Highest Wt. before LapBand(11/2006) -416 lbs.
Day of Surgery to remove LapBand (6/26/13) -330 lbs.
Goal Wt. to get Sleeve Surgery -320 lbs.
    1st Mini Goal Wt. 295 lbs. -
    2nd Mini Goal Wt. 275 lbs. -
    3rd Mini Goal Wt. 250 lbs. -
    4th Mini Goal Wt. 225 lbs. -
    5th Mini Goal Wt. 195 lbs. -
    6th Mini Goal Wt. 180 lbs. -

Welcome to our little corner of the Web! Those stall have a way of kicking us into gear don't they?

During my last stall I had to take a long hard look at what I was eating and doing. My downfall is salty snacks....so potato chips are my evil. I was allowing myself a "few". I was eating a "bit" of the good stuff before I ate the protein.

I came to the conclusion that I can't have those things in the house so they are gone. I don't fix the good stuff. I've started losing steady again after 2 weeks at the same weight.

Sometimes it's something simple like mixing things up a bit. Your body gets used to the same old thing. Good luck to you!
