Default Protein Bars which are the best?

I am lost in a sea of protein bars, I have had a horrible time getting in my protein, and the scale hasnt moved in four days. I know my fluids are short, but protein is the hardest right now. I cant keep the shakes down, they just make me gag. So I am looking to the future, protein bars when my tummy can start solid foods. Does anyone have any great favorites? There are so many brands and flavors out there I am just lost as to what to order. Any help would be really apreciated. Thanks

    Quest.
    No "Quest"ion in my mind

They make a regular line with sucralose if you can have that (some are sensitive to it) or a naturals line with sugar alcohol and stevia.
You can order sample boxes of both on their site.
Quest Low Carb Gluten Free Protein Bars - Official Site
    Sample box link
12 Flavor Sampler Pack - Protein Bars

A word of advise. Skip their "candy" for now, go for the bars.
And if you want them to be easier to chew, unwrap and put 1/2 of one on a plate in the microwave for about 5 seconds or so. Especially with something like cinnamon roll or brownie flavors this makes them quite the treat!

Came back because I noted how little you are out from surgery.
I would not suggest you have these til a good 3 months out.
Try to stick to regular mush foods for a bit yet. Canned chicken with mayo or ranch or gravy. Mashed up beans, soup with the solids blended and put back in. Chobani yogurt with a scoop of protein powder.
But when it's time for bars, you can't beat Quest.

My 2 choices are Quest Protein Bars (20 grams protein/4 grams carbs) and Premier Protein Bar (30 grams protein/12 net carbs)

I echo what Grace said - many protein bars will be too dense for your stomach right now. In addition to Grace's suggestions, I was able to get down some softboiled or scrambled eggs (not too dry) and little bites of smoked salmon when I moved off full liquids to soft foods.

Another protein shake choice is the syntrax nectar - especially fuzzy navel flavor - it is more orange than peach and it tastes like fruit juice and doesn't have a creamy consistency like other protein shakes. I mix it with some crystal light lemonade (actually the cheaper target version) and it makes it even tastier - thanks to DaleLanc here on the forum for that suggestion.

    Cheers,

    Rich

I'm hooked on the Luna Bars, they're the only ones i can stand ... although now i'll have to try the Quest bars the girls above suggested! My favorite Luna Bars are the Blueberry Bliss, the Chocolate Dipped Coconut and the Peanut Honey Pretzel ~ YUM!! If they were soft and chewy bars i was told I could have them around 2-3 weeks but didn't really start on them until about a month out, my stomach just wasn't quite ready for them. Good Luck!!

At your stage, you can try power crunch bar. It is waffer so it melts in your mouth. When you are further out, power crunch bar is more like a candy bar.

Quest bar is awesome once you can eat solid food.

You can get power crunch bar at most grocery stores, Trader Joe, Walmart, Targets. You can also order online but you should try it first.

You can get Quest bar at Vitamin Shop, GNC or online.

I agree with the above statement about waiting on protein bars. I am 7 weeks out and just started trying them this week. I got the first one on Monday down great but the one yesterday was rough. Stick to your liquids and protein shakes for now. You'll be glad you did!

When you are ready, my fave protein bars are Pure Protein as they are higher in protein and lower in carbs/sugars. (Same company that makes the Premier Protein shakes that rock my world.) However, the Zone Peanut Butter Chocolate is my all-time favorite. It tastes like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup which makes me and my tummy happy. That particular Zone bar is only 14g of protein but I heart it so therefore it's ok.

No matter what brand, read the label for each flavor. Some have more sugar or carbs than the others, even when the same brand. In addition, some fluctuate in protein amounts.

    Good luck!

I too couldn't stomach the shakes anymore. I went on the protein bar hunt Monday. I found these at Walmart, I'm in canada and I don't know where you are. Anyway, they are called Pure Protein. They have two varieties, one chocolate deluxe with 21g of protein, 180 cal, 4.5g of fat, 2g of sugar. The other kind is chocolate peanut butter which sounded yummy and I may try next but it had a little less protein and a little more fat and calories. It was so confusing in the energy bar dept and they can be so expensive. These I found are $7.98 for 6 so pretty reasonable. These bars and most you can also buy individually to try them first so you know you like them. I have one of these every morning so I know that I'm getting some good protein to start my day. My shakes where way less protein and way higher cal. So far I think these bars are the best value for money.

Looks like I am the only sleever who detests Quest bars - I had odered three boxes no less and gave them away - just too dense for me. They are heavy and make me feel sluggish so I stick to my Oh Yeah premixed drink to get 32 grams of protein. That helps boost my intake and I love the taste ofthe chocolate malt flavor.

Thank you for all the input, now I know some brands to try when the time is right. My tummy does some things well, ground chicken with gravey and the like, but some foods are just so heavy, she doesnt like them at all yet. Guess its just one day at a time, I will get the protein in eventually.....god willing

I can't imagine not liking Quest bars! I ordered the new flavors the other day, Banana Nut and Chocolate cookie dough and peanut butter cup. The banana nut has the same consistancy as others I have loved in the past, but the cookie dough is different in texture, but still yummy. The peanut butter cup was a dissapointment. It was bitter chocolate and I won't order that again. Luckily I just ordered one of those and not a 12 pack. I always put mine in the microwave for 25-30 seconds to make them taste like candy bars. I Love them SO much. Ok, enough about that...I also like Pure Protein bars. They have new flavors that I saw at Sam's. I didn't try them since I had just ordered my Quest bars. When I run out, I will try them. They look good on the package. Don't rush your stages. Follow your plan to a tee. It will be worth it in the end.

I happened to be by a GNC today and bought a couple of the new choc chip cookie dough Quest bars. I can't have much sucralose so I can't eat them often but I had to try it. OMGoddess, they are good! I had two little bites and hubby finished it and wants more for his lunch.
