Anybody else on fruit juice-only diet?

I know post -op diet varies for most of us. It's been 17 days since my surgery and I'm still on a liquid diet, not only that, but exclusive fruit juice diet and I'm feeling a bit discouraged about it... I've lost about 14 lbs and guess I was expecting it'd be a bit more. I know it's a process but I've read some of you are having a better time with their first month. I was on liquid pre- op diet for a week, so it's been a while since I had some veggies, I miss them. And fish. I mean, I'm not even craving some chocolate cake! Lol I'm craving healthy food. Anybody else had this problem? Any advice?

when was the last time you lost 14lbs in 17 days. thats almost a pound a day and you feel discouraged. come on remember you didnt get obese overnight so you shouldnt expect to lose the weight overnight either. slow and steady wins the race..

Can you email your doctor or call his office to ask why it's specifically fruit juice? That's a new one. Mine will be broth, jello, and water/tea/etc for the first 4 days or so and then full liquids after that for another 6 or so days. Did you have low blood sugar before you had the procedure? I only ask because I'm surprised about him wanting you to intake sugar like that.

I am officially on all liquid starting tomorrow but I was told to stay away from fruit juices because they are full of sugar and carbs...I would ask why they have you on only fruit juices.

yeah..the fruit juice doesn't sound right to me at all. You need protein. You should definitely call or email your doc to double check. And, I agree that 14lbs is not too shabby!

That's exactly what I told him! I thought it was too much sugar, but he said it was fructose and vitamins. I'm not taking any vit- supplement or protein shakes as of yet, have to wait until my 4th week. I didn't have low blood sugar or anything, I'm now thinking it's just my surgeon's way of dieting.

I was allowed only sugar free fruit juices but had to drink primarily proten shakes for 2 weeks

I'm 10 days out and I'm not allowed fruit juice because it's considered empty calories. Love your weight loss, though.

Wow, that is so different from my doctor. I can't have fruit juice at all for a while. I will be on a liquid diet only for 3 weeks, but no juice allowed.

Have you found anyone else on here that has your surgeon? I'm curious if they were given the same instructions. So weird and interesting how every doctor is different with their pre/post instructions. You have done a great job with your weight loss as several peeps have mentioned, though, so total congrats on that!!! =)

Yeah, I Haven't Heard The Fruit Juice Diet Either. Way too Much Sugar!! And Not Much NutrItion.
You Need Protein Otherwise Your Body Goes On Starve Mode And That's Probably Why You Haven't Lost More Weight. I Just Can't Think Of The Rezoning Behind The Fruit Juice Diet..

Thank you all for taking the time to reply. I thought it was strange from the day he put me on that diet... like all of you are well aware of - fruit juice is too much sugar, that's why I was getting tired of it, it's what sugar does! I'm not discouraged on the weight loss, just on the awful diet and how could it be affecting my weight loss. I think I'm going to start with broth from tomorrow (Doctor had said I could do so from next Monday) and stop the sugary fruit juices, 3 x day. It's just too much. Also, maybe get a new Dr.
