Default 2nd week post-op. where should I be with exercise? How much? How long? Etc...

Hi everyone. My surgery was a week ago to date. I am starting to feel better, but the air is still kicking my ass. I have been walking every night before bed for about 20 minutes. We live in Colorado so lots of uphill walking. The 20 minutes does me in. I feel so fatigued after. I used to be able to walk a hour and be fine. Any suggestions on how to slowly get into a regular exercise regime and some great exercises? Also, I'm not a person that really enjoys exercise to begin with. I had a accident that caused me to have 2 separate knee surgeries and a broken patella afterwards. It limits the amount I can do as we'll as the activity choices. Due to the surgeries, I packed on all this weight.....I need a bit of advice!

You should be walking only. Talk with your Dr. they know best.

I live in Colorado too. Walking is best at this point in your recovery. 20 - 30 minutes is great. Hang in there, you are still healing and your energy is low anyway, without having to deal with our altitude. You will see that walking will encourage your wait loss. My best wishes for your as you start this exciting journey.

If 20 - 30 mins is bothering you right now then get up and do 5 - 10 a few times durring the day...it really doesnt have to be for long...the MAJOR reason why they want to get you up and moving is due to blood clots.

So just walk around the house...do what you can do just keep moving :-)

Check w your dr obviously but I'm sposed to walk 30 min every dy. m only three weeks out. 20 min several times a week is enough for heart health per heart assn. ...you are still in recovery. I just got released for bike riding but only bc I asked and based on my specific health/recovery rateetc. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. It wasn't too clear to me on how much/little I was supposed to be doing. I'll keep going for my 20 min walks till it gets easier
