First night out .. Advice please

Hi all

I was sleeved 08.04.13

I have been out several times for a meal and managed a small glass of wine, however I am on a big night out this weekend and not sure what is best to drink ??

Too much wine makes me sick. (Even before the surgery)
I can't tolerate fruit juices.

My tipple before I was sleeved was vodka and diet coke, i no longer drink carbonated drinks !!

Any suggestions ?

Hi Sam .... You can still have a good night out but make it simple .... I have a vodka on ice and just keep adding ice ..... Slice of lime and is great to sip.

If we are having a dinner with others I drink a glass (or two) of wine before and with my meal. Allows me to eat a little more and does not bring attention to my plate (no one knows I had the sleeve).

Have fun and don't drive even after one drinks we may have an altered alcohol absorption post sleeve and have a higher blood levels.

Could I suggest changing your entire outlook on your big night out?....What say when preparing, instead of the norm (cheese plate, nibbles and wine), get some exercise? A big gym session or long walk. This will release endorphins which may change your desire to eat too much and/or drink too much. This comes from a BIG drinker who was once of the belief that you couldnt go out and have a good time without drinking. I havent had a drink sinc October last year. Im not here to preech as I was a pretty bad drinker who often binged in excess of 20 drinks plus on a weekend night (and often back it up the next), but you have to decide what is important...Drinks with friends on a big night out, or looking after your new slleve, body and more importantly....mind.

I never drink and have a "big" night out once or twice a year, when I love to get tipsy !!

Being only 27, I don't want to have to change my ability to have a drink or three when out partying with friends just need to know what I drink won't make me have a bad stomach !!

I work out 5 times a week at the gym and intend to do a "burn baby burn " work out this morning to compensate for the extra kcals, so wish me luck guys !!

Think I will try the vodka on ice ! I know spirits have less kcals than wine !!

Grape flavored vodka and water, it tastes like grape koolaid. I tried it once before being sleeved and I figure when there comes a time when i will be drinking (to chicken right now) that's what I will drink. Have fun and stay safe!
