Default woman dies on roller coaster

Family: Roller coaster ride became 'nightmare' - CNN.com
I feel so bad for the family. I feel badly for all the ignorant cruel comments about the woman and her weight problems. I also feel bad for the young man who dismissed her comment that she didn't think her harness was correctly applied. I wonder did he not want to tell her yea you need to get off because she was not going to be properly secured due to you weight, did he believe it was correctly applied. I have done the walk of shame at rides and as akward as that is, far better to do it than to loose your life. When I did, I knew as soon as I sat down, there might be a problem and as long as the attendant was polite I was not going to be angry at him. I would be embarassed but trust me I know I am fat and I know there are somethings I cannot do or do not fit.

I feel bad too for her, her family, but espicially the kids. I quit riding them in 2000, back when I was chubby.

I feel so sorry for the family and the kids. But did any of you read the comments at the end. They were very rude!

That was tough. I remember squeezing into rides and having to sit in the modified seats and worrying that the thing would bust open anyway. I no longer go on them. Scary.

Such a sad story and of course most people focus on the fact that she was overweight. If she was skinny, people would focus on the actual accident verses someones damn size. Perhaps she was too big but shouldn't the attendant be held accountable for allowing her to ride, I mean really? Also, people who commented show no respect for the grieving family.....and this my friends is why I hate people, so cruel and no regard for others feelings.

(this is towards those who made very rude comments on the cnn website)

When I lived in the dallas area years ago, i took my oldest son, then 8 years old, on that rollercoaster. it was his first ride. the coaster has been upgraded since then, but back then, it had the worst safety bar i'd ever seen. it went across both people in the car...one bar. across my lap and then his. needless to say, i was WAY bigger than his tiny body and he was very loose in the car. i didnt realize the problem until the first curve, i held on to him for dear life. he was sliding EVERYWHERE. The texas giant was NOT safe back then, and though I can't speak to it now, obviously there is more of a problem than just her weight.

I remember 3 ppl pushing the bar down on me on a ride. That very well could have been me. That is when I decided to get my life back. Sad she doesn't have the chance. Obesity swallows people whole and constricts us in many ways. We just want to be normal. That's all she was trying for. A normal day with her family.
