Even though I'm not able to eat a lot,I still feel like I'm eating too much because I go back to eat every two hours. I don't want to hit a plateau because of this. Anybody experiencing the same thing???
Getting to know your sleeve is a process. You are learning healthy eating habits now. The sleeve is only a tool as good as you work it. Many people, myself included, found keeping a food diary helpful to track when and what you eat. You can also use it to plan your food and nutrition in advance. The best advice is to avoid snacking especially carbs. If you doctor or nutritionist gave you a diet regiment you should follow it. If not search on here as many have posted theirs in the past.
You can do it.
I'm not sleeved yet, but my doc said breakfast, lunch, and dinner once I'm in full eating stage and stay under 1,000 calories unless I'm working out a lot. Also, I have heard others say that for the first three months they usually only do like 600 to 800 calories due to the small amount of food they eat. I guess it depends on what you are eating, protein and calories. I would do as the others say and write down all I eat and drink. Good Luck and best wishes!
Thanks everybody! I am counting my calories tru my fitness pal. I do stay in between 800 to 1000. I spend so much time worrying if I'm consuming too much that I can't enjoy my weight loss. Another bad thing is I weight myself everyday. It's so bad my boyfriend had to hide the weight scale from me....Shane on me!
I get hungry about 3 hours after my previous meal. Since I only have 120-180 calories per meal, it's not a big deal if I eat 4 times per day. My doc recommended 600-800 calories a day for women for at least 6 months post-op, and 800-1000 for men. I shoot for 600, since I'm over 40 and my metabolism just ain't what it used to be! Sometimes I go over, sometimes I stay under. On heavy workout days, I allow myself 700 calories.
I'm losing slower than pre-op and immediately post-op, but I'm still losing more than I could without the sleeve. I would tell you to stay off the scale, but I weight just about daily too. EVEN though I know I shouldn't!
I too have days when I'm picking around a lot and it worries me. I think its because we were so used to eating non stop before because we had nothing holding us back so we just have to get used to eating only what our new stomach can tolerate or allows us to. i think this is what stretches the stomach back out also. I've plateaued now at 172 but I find that I plateau for like 1-2 weeks ever time I'm about to hit a new marker.
