Finally! 2 Days POST OP!

Well, I went into surgery Wednesday & woke up with everything working just fine & all of my loved ones waiting for me in my room with goodies
Not going to lie, There was a good bit of pain involved =\ Especially my left side which is where I was told they take the tummy out of!
I had a few cough attacks also.. Which are the WORST!!
It was supposed to have just been a one night stay but the doctor was just wanting to be overly cautious since my pulse rate was running a tad high..
So come to find out, I had a "touch" pneumonia
I was extremely upset when he told me this.. Because I was doing EVERYTHING they told me to do! Walked A LOT & Did my breathing treatments...
I guess I powered through it because they FINALLY let me go home today, Friday, at 6:30 pm
Of course I had to do AT LEAST another 40oz of powerade before I could leave..
Was a little tough, Not going to lie..
But now I'm at home, as comfy as I can get right now on our couch watching Friends & talking to y'all..
I know I left out a lot of things but I'm feeling a little weak & wanted to make this short & sweet!

Melkay, sooooo glad you did great, well we are on our way to being sexy and skinny. lol You are going to be amazed at just 1 week how you feel, I said wow what a difference 1 week makes in your recovery and pain. I am so happy it's over YEAH. get rest and when you wake up walk. keep us posted.
oh and by the way where are you in LA. I am in Destrehan.

I just had surgery on Monday and also had pain on the left side. Also, had a cough and I agree, It's the worst. But I have to say I am feeling so much better now and able to get up and walk like normal. The only thing that is a bit annoying is I ITCH! My incisions are healing so they itch. I want to scratch them but know I can't. LOL but if that's the worst of it for me, I'll take it.

Keep a pillow close by and when you feel like you need to cough grab the pillow and hold it tight across your abdomen, you will find it helps. Welcome to the losing team. I am also from Louisiana, living in Houma. All the cajun cuisine makes this life style a little difficult but I still enjoy all those to die for dishes, just in smaller amounts

Welcome home. It does get better. Last night (day 5 post-op for me), I sneezed and it didn't hurt. The worst is behind you! Every day it seems a little easier to get down more and more fluids and a little easier to eat the thicker "full fluids" like pudding and yogurt.

You can still do all your crawfish/crab boils ... Just focus more on the protein versus the potatoes/corn that soak up the yummy boil goodness. (I briefly lived in Thibodaux, so I smiled when I saw that you were in Houma)
