Talking 5 weeks post-op NSV First day to not feel STARVING.

I am 5 weeks post op and can officially say that today is the FIRST day I haven't felt like I was going to gnaw my arm off from hunger every 3-4 hours! LOL My Dr. and nutritionist said I shouldn't be feeling hungry, maybe it's gas, heartburn, residual surgical pain, etc. In addition to my supplements and vitamins, I take gas-x, Mylanta, Prilosec, Tums. Nope. I was hungry! My little tummy didn't get the message that it wasn't supposed to feel hungry!

My Dr. said the surgery would likely help with the Ghrelin, the hunger hormone. I call it my Gremlin, as in, "There is my Gremlin, again!" It truly felt like the worst hunger pain I ever felt back in the dieting days of starving myself. Luckily, a few tablespoons of something healthy is all it would take to get rid of the feeling.

I was beginning to worry that I'd have that super hungry feeling forever! My husband had the sleeve surgery 6 months ago and never has had any hunger feeling ever since his surgery. He treats food like medicine and eats on a schedule to make sure he's getting enough. Thank God, I hope this lasts! Today is the first day that I've only had a mild empty feeling around the 3-4 hour mark that reminds me that it is likely time to feed the "Gremlin".

I don't know if this counts as a victory or not as it's not something I "did" but I am sure happy that hopefully, finally I won't feel like I'm starving!

I would consider that a victory!! Maybe it just took a little while for your "gremlins" to get the message!

I am 4 weeks post-op and I get hungry... stomach actually starts growling. Good to know that might end.... Nutritionist told me I wouldn't be hungry for at least 9 mos and it would be hard to eat.... nope, not having a problem with that at all!!!

I was told the same thing...that I would very likely not be hungry at.all.ever. Since I've gotten the sleeve, I've felt gas pains, heartburn, surgical pain, ate too much pain AND should have chewed more, swallowed less pain....NONE of those were the same as the "I'm STARVING HERE!!" pain! Yesterday was Day 2 of not having that pain, keeping my fingers crossed that that feeling is gone for good.

It's a NSV for sure! You persevered! You stuck with the program till your body started to cooperate! I hope the gremlins stay quiet from now on!
