I have an appointment in 2 weeks with the dietitian and nurse, and if all is well with my bloodwork, etc, I could be having my surgery within a month!! I am so excited, scared, anxious.... all emotions!
Anyone else from Eastern Canada?????

Hi Holly,
I'm from Cornwall, Ontario. I'm getting my sleeve done August 12th , flying to San Diego and will be picked up to go to Mexico with Dr. Quinonis. Are you having it done in Halifax? Good luck! Will your medical plan cover this or will you be a pay patient? I used to work in Halifax as a CNA years ago. Take care. Marlene
Hi Kosiecat,
I am doing well. Tomorrow will be a week since my surgery and I am doing very well. Not hungry and following my liquid diet. I putter around the house, doing dishes, rest, read and watch movies. Lost 14.5pounds since the pre op. My stomach feels swollen and that is probably normal. People thought I was very daring to go to Mexico on my own. Where are you from in southern Ontario? I am looking at your ticker and I see that you have lost 105 pounds says, 1 more pound to go. Am I reading this right? Good for you. Marlene
Hi! I'm glad you're doing well! I had a few naysayers about Mexico. Some saying things like there will be chickens running around the doctor's feet! LOL Little did they know. My daughter and I went together after doing a year of homework on the place and being told in Ontario we weren't big enough or sick enough.
Yes, you read my ticker right! I'm pretty much done my weight loss. I'm okay with it, too. With plastic surgery there will be another 20-25 pound loss. I am healthy now, and that matters more than anything. You have lost a good amount! It is normal to feel swollen. It feels like forever before you can eat real food again, but so worth going slow. Avoid any complications.
I'm in Barrie, Ontario. I guess i should add that to my profile. Good luck on your journey! Feel free to ask me questions anytime! I'm no expert, but if i can help out, I'm here!
I'm just wondering, I will have my surgery this fall and it is free, if you say that it cost 18000$ in Montréal is it because your going to private? The delay here(Rimouski, QC) is about a year so it really isn't bad. I sure prefer waiting instead of paying 18000$.
Have a nice day!
VSG wasn't offered when I wanted weight loss surgery unless I weighed over 500 pounds. Then OHIP would pay for it. I didn't want the gastric bypass. Humber in Toronto has come a long way since my surgery was done. I have many friends that went there and are quite happy. Good for you if Quebec is doing it free. I had looked into having it done in McGill University. It wasn't free there. Remember that I am now two and a half years past my surgery.
