OMG! Have I hurt myself?

Hi, y'all. I was sitting here in ICU with my friend who is dying. Her body is slowly shutting down. All of a sudden, I got so stressed that I began munching on potato chips without even realizing it. I had completed lmost half a bag before I came to my senses.

I'm only two weeks post op and on full liquids. Have I done harm to myself? I don't know what to do! Please let me know!

I'm glad you realized and stopped, I also hope that you chewed very WELL. You should be fine. I had a problem with sleep eating right after surgery and ate a whole chocolate cupcake. If you notice anything unusual make sure you seek advice from a dr. Best of luck to you!!

luck for you the chips just melt so to speak, if it been solid food you would of felt the pain from the new stomach. dont beat yourself up , you slipped but didnt fall, now just keep msrching forward

Yeah, the good news is if you are feeling ok, you will probably be fine. The bad news is your stomach is still not healed. If you have any pain, call your dr asap. The other bad news is mindless eating never goes away. There are times I still want to eat and eat but it is easier to stop now. You are reallybstressed right now and are going back to those old habits. Its good you are aware now and were able to stop nIt is a good start to eating with our body in mind, not just feeding the brain. Hugs and best wishes!

Had I been watching my friend die I would probably have been stressed too and reached for food.... It's funny how our stressed selves lead us to food. I can totally see where you are coming from.

Like everyone said you would have felt it if you had a problem. Yesterday I ate half a scrambled egg, had done that the day before and all was fine...but yesterday..was a different story and I didn't keep it down. Your body will let you know.

I'm so sorry about your friend. As for you....all you can do is hope for the best. The fact that you're not bent over in pain should be a good sign.
