I drink 80 ounces of water a day. Really more?!?! I pee non-stop as is.
Well if you're drinking a lot of liquids it must be something else. I too I get up several times a night to go to the bathroom. But as for constipation now I have no problem whatsoever. I only had it the first three weeks after surgery. Now I'm just the opposite. LOL!!! Lorna
I battled with constipation throughout the weight loss phase. Now I am in maintenance I am eating around 1800 cals a day and I am able to consume enough veg and fruit to be regular again. So regard this as a short term problem. I do sympathise as I remember how horrible it makes you feel.

hi i am on normal food now and have been for ages as i had op in august last year. eat plenty of greens good diet drink all day so plenty of fluids but i cant go to the loo. i have to take laxatives twice a week to go. i only go to loo twice a week and bleed when gone. this i find not nice
That's horrible! I know that's gotta be painful. I take two stoll softeners daily. Have you tried that? It's easier on your system than laxatives, and don't have the some powerful effect. I don't go everyday, but when I go it's not painful either.
I would be interested to know if those persons who have difficulty with constipation still have their gallbladders or not. I had my gallbladder removed eight years ago, and just had my sleeve operation four weeks ago; but I have never had a problem with constipation, ever! In fact, I often experienced loose bowels before my surgery. I did have diarrhea the week after my surgery because of the liquid diet, but that cleared up about a day after I moved onto full liquids. So now I am regular with no additional medications, and all is good in Diane-land. My theory is that when you don't have a gallbladder, the bile produced by the liver just dumps into the intestines with no regulation whatsoever, so that makes everything looser. It was really a problem before my surgery when I ate a high-fat meal the night before. Now, I'm not eating high fat anymore, but I still have no problem. So, I'm just wondering if my theory holds true for other persons without their gallbladders???
Actually Di, Me thinks you are on to something. After my Gall was removed, my tummy doesn't tolerate alot of animal fats or too much sugarfor that matter.
I guess like anything, everyone is going to be different. but I'm with you.
My doctor told me to expect to go less than before as I would be consuming less food, the bowel still holds the same amount, the stomach doesn't, to me this makes sense. Less food longer processing time, protein also takes longer to process through your body (Info from my dietician). I have found if I am not keeping up my fluid intake everything slows down.
This isn't overly healthy but i have found if I am really clogged up but the best solution is to have a cup of coffee must be the caffeine. I do think if you are bleeding it is time to see the doctor. (Keep your fluids up and let us know how you go with the doctor)
